I wanted to briefly share my experience...I was able to successfully use Autel to repair a Skoda Octavia MK4 facelift, which was not even 3 months old. I opened the SFD and made the adjustment in STG 17 as a test...as a note, you need two-stage recognition for this, as well as regenerating yourself as a person with Autel, which is verified for authenticity...for this reason, there is only one photo.

It is nice to be able to unlock the SFD2, connect to the control units and make changes on non-SFD2 ones at least. But SFD2-protected units, like 5F, can't be modified this way, am I right?

That's SFD1.. Not SFD2.. SFD2 isn't "unlocked"

The channel values are part of the SFD2 token, once the token is used the changes are automatically applied.

Try 09/5F etc, it won't work. 17 is SFD1 to allow for service interval reset.

What I remember was UNECE at control unit 17. Gateway was open and that is definitely SFD 2

The instrument cluster doesn’t not have SFD2. If it did, only VWAG dealers and independent workshops would be able to reset the service indicator as it requires adaptation channels being written

Regardless of if the car has UNECE security implementations, the instrument cluster has SFD1. Not SFD2.

We work with SFD1 & SFD2 on a daily basis.

Repeating myself again but
•17 does not have SFD2

•SFD2 is not “unlocked” to allow you to have free rein. The unlock token is generated to include the new values of specific RDIDs.
when the token is entered, the RDIDs are automatically changed to match these new values. It does not show as unlocked. It does not give you a time frame

•SFD1 is unlocked to allow you to have free rein. The unlock token grants you 90 minutes and shows as unlocked during this time.

•17 does not have SFD2

The one with control unit 17 is fine. Then please explain to me the following: Why couldn't I open any control units if I had initially rejected the token request? Only after I agreed to a server request for control unit 19 and this was confirmed could I open other control units.

I don't know how autel works with VW, maybe only the software from Autel shows, for simplicity it says unlocked

Sorry @cairus ,
im Baseline nach UNECE hat der Octavia NX kein SFD2 im Kombiinstrument.

SFD2 ist ebenso auch keine pauschale Freischaltung, sondern abhängig vom Codierwert/einzelne Adresse.

EN:
In the UNECE baseline, the Octavia NX does not have SFD2 in the instrument cluster.

SFD2 is also not a blanket activation, as it depends on the coding value/single RDID.

Once again, forgert unit 17, is my mistake. The question here is, why was I able to open a connection to all other control units when I approved the server request from control unit 19?

Any example? I don't get what you mean...

A message displayed in some diagnostic tool ≠ correct and trustworthy.

Autel bekommt als in Europa registriertes Diagnosetool automatisch die Berechtigung für den Zugang zu SFD(1). Auch wenn der Hauptsitz in Shenzhen ist.

Forget everything, if Autel had developed a SFD2 unlock feature, whole world, not just us here, would be talking about it and Autel would be bragging about it everywhere. But there's nothing about SFD2 in their website.

This is supposed to be, or should have been, a normal discussion. For me, it's over now, and I won't share any more experiences in this regard.

It could have been a normal discussion if you listened to people explaining that you're incorrect and informing you of how and why.
As per usual you chose to argue, like you did with the area view thread in which you were also proven to be incorrect

IF you were to find an easy solution for SFD2 you'd be a very wealthy man. However this isn't one.

You weren't the one they were referring to. They were right about control unit 17, but control unit 19 would then need to be explained. PR Code NI1
