My clutch has held ok a week later. Thrashed the car around a bit - if it lasts me for 8k i will be happy because that's two years worth of driving for me. Means i can concentrate on other mods until the time comes.

Flywheel was OK, no need for a new one.

I was going to swap to a SMF, but was advised not to (why did SEAT put a DMF in there in the 1st place ?).

Fab job by the lads at JBS (get a shortshifter fitted at the same time FOC as they are right in there anyway putting your new clutch in !!)

I'd love a shortshifter too but Mr bank manager will be upset with me (arn't most people in debt nowadays though)

How many miles had your car done when you had new clutch in? Did JBS tell you your flywheel was OK? Or was it just a case of you taking your chances?

Long long day but now got a full SACHS installed and rocking :D

Feels alot better, no slippage, nice and easy round town but a much faster bite now.

Love it! DMF was inspected by JBS and deemed to be fine. So got mysen a Green Cotton filter fitted too :)

Then popped into Seat stealers on way home to discuss my brake lights not coming on until I apply alot of pressure to pedal.

Replaced the switch AND gave it a complimentary wash and vac :)

I reckon probably around 190 :)

Agreed - thats just about where I am plus 327lbs/ft torque. - RR figures of course, so.....

Just to add Will at P-torque reckoned the DMF should be absolutely fine with the map. After spending much time researching, the consensus was unless you're spending mega bucks in order to get mega figures an SMF is a bit of an overkill.

DMF's are fine, some break but the majority last the duration. Other sites with standard vehicles still have problems with DMF's breaking down.

BTW the idea of even more vibes coming through to the cabin from an SMF doesn't even bear thinking about - still not liking it with poly bushes!

If you wanna play with the wheely big boys then SMF is a sensible course of action especially if doing the clutch at the same time.

JBS told me 200-300 miles for bedding in. Not quite sure what is meant by taking it easy? Is taking it easy just like drving a car normally? ie without doing stupid standing still starts and ragging it through the gears?

I guess so - drove mine like normally. Wasn't happy till the stink went though - kept thinking clutch was going to go bang bang in five minutes.

Mine took 500 miles or so - stating the obvious, depends on gear changes of course.

JBS advised me to go home the 'back' way after the new clutch to get it working and bedded in.

It was only 60 miles the backway for me but I didn't smell the clutch once I was using gears alot as I went through Sheffield town centre at dinnertime. Plenty of stop/start traffic.

Very happy with the clutch though, like the fee/bite of it, bite point seems higher now and though it would be lower?

Also happy that JBS didn't bullshit me into buying a new flywheel (which they could of easily done) so had enough for a green cotton filter too :)

I was gonna get them to shove a quickshift on it but they had none instock. :(

I think most companies say 500 miles as they know a lot of customer will get to 300ish miles and start to think sod it and just rag the car. As already stated it`s not so much the distance covered but more the number of gear changes up and down the box that matters.
