hey guys ,

I have always had a slight niggle on my car
When pulling away from a stand still the car seems very sluggish and I have to use quiet a lot of throttle to move off
After I’ve moved away the car goes just fine flys through the gears
The best way to explain it is it feels like I’m trying to pull away in 2nd gear all the time

*parts changed
Rev G dv
latest pcv with new gasket
r8 coil packs
spark plugs

My car
Leon cupra k1 2008
Stage 1 rtech
full sports cat miltek exhaust
Ram air oversize intake

Any codes?? A faulty maf sensor or breathing issue eg air leak in a pipe can cause this type of symptom.

Will be checking codes at the end of the week mate
Maf sensor does look pretty dirty when checked at the weekend il try cleaning that first

Ok, don't laugh. But you had a look at your rear brakes recently? I was actually driving round with a calliper holding the pad against the disc (not fully locked). But with cars hitting 300bhp+ I only noticed something was wrong when intially pulling away.

Good point mate .
when replacing the rear discs and pads a few months back the offside was very stiff .i did end up freeing it but i think it was just stiff due to being wound out so far (pads were very low) so the piston maybe wasn't dead centre
best thing for me to do will be getting it on the ramp this weekend get the fault code rear on her .

Another a good shout regards the rear calipers. Both of mine were sticking had been like it when I bought the car. Only noticed a big difference when i had them changed.

Its a shame i dont have time this week to get it on the ramp but i will try Saturday .
the car also is not great at starting either :thumbd: looking into it and speaking to rtech they recommend getting the inlet valves cleaned and injectors serviced .
As a guess my valves will be pretty coked up by now ive gone over 60k

I'd have to hear it to compare. But I've always thought mine was rubbish starting from the day I had it. The 1.6 Leon I have, starts the second you turn the key. As did pretty much every car I've ever owned. This always turns over 2-3 times before starting and sounds like a bucket of bolts.

I tried bigger capacity battery, new coils, new plugs, inlet and injector clean (which did make it run better) - but still starts like my neigbours battered out old Corsa.

Mine too , the mk5 gti i had before the K1 started normally but this one is as you explain haha
when i got the car remapped there was a fault flagged up pointing to the ignition but this was a intermittent fault
i will get the code later .

I have got a genuine ignition switch just not fitted it yet as the wheel has to come off .

Hmmm, I also have loads of codes for the ignition barrel... I just assumed sometimes it lost contact with it. I've successfully ignored them so far... will have to see if I can dig them out.

00849 - S-contact at Ignition/Starter Switch (D)
008 - Implausible Signal

00466 - Control Module for Steering Column Electronics (J527)
004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent

00883 - Ignition Switch (D) Terminal S
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit

My thinking is... if that was caused while turning the engine over, the starter motor would stop turning. So I've just ignored them so far.

Yeah my FR is the same tbh.

I've recently had a new battery which made it slightly better, but probs just a placebo effect.

They're notoriously rattly engines these TFSI's.

Potent tho once fettled.

If you change the timing chain and tensioner it quieten's them down no end. The difference at idle is like day and night.

I'm still yet to get my garage to do this for me lol they don't seem to understand why haha part of me wants to get it done and the other half believes them when they say it's a waste of money haha

i have

00576 terminal 15 electrical problem in circuit - intermittent

00883 ignition switch (D) terminal S electrical problem in circuit - intermittent

00884 ignition switch (D) terminal X electrical problem in circuit - intermittent

01744 ignition switch terminal (P) electrical problem in circuit - intermittent

00885 ignition swtich (D) terminal 50 electrical problem in circuit - intermittent

all point to the ignition switch when checked on ross-tech

I had the chain done on my mk5 gti it made the engine a tad quieter but no real difference to how it drove not worth the £500 i cost to have done aha! but then again the chain wasn't noisy just like my k1 isn't its actually pretty quiet for a tfsi

Been pondering over this for a few months now

It turned out to be the hose from the ram air intake that goes on top of the turbo kept slipping off over time , the diameter is to big compared to the turbos pipe size
to fix this i grabbed the original oem air intake took the bottom sleeve out and fitted that together with the ram air hose
now 2 weeks later it hasn't budged an inch
No more sluggishness moving away from stand still
No more jerk on and off throttle between gear changes
Drives miles better no more un-metered air

**Check your Leon tfsi intake pipe that joins to the turbo is secure**

I hope this helps others .
