hi Jon, i think the smell is caused from bacteria inthe air con system.

you can buy a can of stuff (halfords?) which is like an aerosol that you release into the car when you have the air con on. that circulates the contents of the can into the air con system and cleans it and gets rid of the bad smells.

if u go to a dealer they will just do the same, but charge you for the privalege!!

if u have ur car still under warrenty then just point it out to the dealer and see if they will cure this for you. i used to point this out every year i got my car serviced at audi and they sorted it out (but then im sure it was included in the price!!!)

Ive had the same problem in a 3 series beamer I've used the halfords spray and it worked for a few days then the smell returned. You could try disinfectant on your pollen filter was quite effective on my beamer.

Bought the Comma Air Con Cleaner yesterday from a local motor factors for £9.99.
Emptied the contents with the AC on recirculate for 10 mins & it seems to have done the trick. We'll have to see how long it lasts.

I would've pointed the finger at the pollen filter personally, as some mechanics have this belief that they should never be changed.

And i agree with Tom..

I had the same problem, but this morning i changed the pollen filter and the smell is gone...:D

Took about two minutes to change the filter so it was an easy fix.....(for ones)

I think those ones are for the MK1 Leon!

GSF sell them, Mann CU2939/1 or CUK2939/1 (charcoal) IIRC. (just checked the Mann site and damn I'm good!)
