The mount isnt threaded! The bolt has corroded onto the dogbone mount

This happened to me!
You have to smash the existing mount off. Then get a set of grips onto the remaining threads and get them out

Heres my mount and snapped bolts

No i used a hammer and a chisel!

And loads of penetrating fluid!

Took a good hour to smash the old mount off as it was seized solid! Held on until the end!

Then the remaining bolt threads came out with a set of grips

Got a 2nd hand mount off an octavia vrs and fitted powerflex bushes!
Mega difference

Lol I dremmeled the sides off my mount to get the stupid thing off then the bolts were like finger tight. I got a couple of new bolts from dave seres and smothered them in copper grease this time.

I used stainless marine grade m8 bolts. That way they wont be rusting on again. A bolt is a bolt :)

If only i had a dremel :(

It's not the bolts rusting that's the problem though, it's the alloy and steel together causing a reaction and when the alloy corrodes it forms a lot of build up which seizes the bolts.

I'm doing mine soon, been soaking it in "Shock & Unlock" from Halfords, stuff is really good, much better than WD etc.
I just Aero'd my front wiper arms, they took 3 days soaked and the proper removal tool & still a bitch to move, copper greased the splines before fitting new ones.

Sorted it lads grided the old mount off and the snapped bolts was just finger tite.
Replace with a second hand mount and new yellow power flex bush and what a diffrence it's so much better bit more vibration throw wheel on idle but should bed in

My powerflex mount arrived yesterday

Glad I haven't started this job until I order new bolts on Monday.

Nonetheless its not one I'm looking forward to. Who reckons I'll need a new mount complete?
