i woke up this morning to find my car, which was parked on the drive, has smashed into my garage and the hand brake cable has broken.

i think im just jinxed. i just had the bonnet dun, and now i gotta get the f***ing bumper resprayed and a new cable, if its under warranty.

that sucks, really sucks. Guess you'll leave it in gear from now on though. Hope its not too expensive to be put rite!

ouch, unfortunate.

I ALWAYS park in gear. No matter if its flat or not. Brakes expand/contract depending on heat - when they cool they shrink, thus allowing the car to move.

oh how many times have people asked "why do you leave it in gear"...

sorry to hear this has happened though.
be interesting to see if the warranty comes with "secondary damage".
mind you, they may argue its a wear and tear item.

i always leave mine in gear for that reason, plus it makes it harder for someone to pinch the car. especially back in college we played a joke on a mate who left his car out of gear by picking up the back of it and wheeled it to a different space

I saw Nissan Primera owners successfully claim for the same thing. Make a complaint to SEAT customer services.

My LCR handbreak came off on its own the other day and started rolling towards the muddy estuary...heart in mouth, run and luckly had the windows open, so dived through the passenger one, scraped a chunk of skin off my back due to the wind deflector over the window, and managed to engage the handbreak just in the nick of time....was sooo wierd, as the handbreak was still in the up position......??

Feel for ya mate.....can feel one of those why do i bother threads coming on again.......
