Just got off the phone with the guys at Autotechnica and they've quoted me for both the standard issue Seat part and an aftermarket part.

He did say that with the aftermarket one until they ordered it couldn't be sure which make it would be but it would be one of two, can't remember what the first manufacturer name was but the other was Sachs.

I asked if both would be ok to go to stage one and he did say that both clutches are rated highly enough to cope with a stage one map.

I believe the Sachs is the equivalent of the genuine Seat part, not actually uprated in any way.

Done a little bit of searching and think that this is the right clutch for my car (can anyone confirm?)
http://www.gnjmotorsport.com/loba-sachs-vag-2.0-tfsi-tdi-stage-3-upgrade-clutch-kit-clone.html

Seems to be a good price too so it would just be a case of getting a good local guy to fit it, got a couple of places in mind.

Also does anyone have an idea of price on the standard DMF, I've been looking all over and can't seem to find the cost for one, I don't think I need one but depending on cost I may opt to get one as it may save pain and extra expense in the long run.

Any help appreciated.

And why do you want to change from an EOM DMF to another OEM DMF?? Whats wrong with your current one?

I was just curious on price, I don't think I do need one but if the price is such that it doesn't make sense not to replace it while the clutch is being replaced then it would surely be better to have a new one :)

It's usually good practice to change the dmf whist the box is off, just like the slave. Saves having the job done twice as the labour will be the same to have the box back off to replace the dmf on its own.

A good mechanic should check for play and go from there if only supplied with a clutch kit. I know at work we sell Sachs (standard oem) dmf and clutch all bolted together ready to bolt upto the crank for 300 ish + vat (off the top of my head) just need to buy the slave then.

I understand about the labour etc, cos its the same with the water pump when u get the cambelt changed.

I just meant in general.

Do you have any idea how much the DMF on it's own is then dude? Or do you not sell it?

I've made a few calls and gotten some prices (it's actually quite difficult to get someone willing to install a non standard clutch) and I've found a place that knows their VAG cars who have quoted me a fair price to fit the clutch and are willing to fit a non standard part.

Going to do a little more leg work and see what else is out there before I 100% decide on what I want, then it'll be a case of getting her booked in for the work.

Sounds like a decent bit of kit then and obviously able to cope with pretty big power, what's pedal feel like, the blurb claims it's similar to oem pedal feel.

I've never had a shot of a standard one but my wife drives it every day and she's tiny and can manage it no problem. In fact its not much heavier than the clutch in my diesel fiesta.

Ok so I've gotten things sorted, made the decision and bought the Sachs stage 1 clutch, a nice upgrade over the standard issue. All booked in to have the work done on 3rd March :)
