Hi folks,

I recently bought myself a tidy wee 52 plate Ibiza, and I want to replace the standard Alana head unit with the Sony CDX-GT44IP I had in my old Starlet. Thing is, the Sony HU was screwed straight into a mounting bracket in the Starlet, so in my infinite wisdom I binned the cage that came with the unit. (As an aside, the 80mm speakers in the Starlet cannot be compared to the 6 speakers in the Ibiza, what a noise they can make!)

I only realised this after I'd pulled out the Alana unit and wired everything up as well!

Searching online, I can see this PC5-118 head unit cage for Sony stereos, which I'd imagine will fit the HU. My question is, will I need anything else to get it secured in there? I don't want to spend a few days waiting for one to turn up in the post only to discover I need something else!

Cheers!

Thats it for mounting, have you still got the stereo surround and aerial adapter
Nah, don't appear to have either of those. Although I'll give the aerial a pass, the reason I'm fitting the iPod compatible HU is because of the ridiculous number of ads on the radio!

Cheers.

I finally got round to ordering and installing this cage, now I have a strange problem. On the instructions for the original Sony cage, it hooks onto some clips which extend from the cage but it looks like the replacement cage I got doesn't have these. So the CD player sits in nice and easy... until I drive away at which point it flies out the dash.

Is there anything special I have to do with the cage to stop it falling out, or have I ordered the wrong part?

Apparently I got the Connects2 which ends in 1 and should've got the one which ends in 2. Anyway, I managed to jam the bits of credit card I used to get the Alana out between the sides and now it's stuck in pretty firmly.

Thanks again for the help!
