why whats wrong with 2500s?

Most of us are using them with excellent results for years.

What do you suggest?

Perhaps my response was a little enthusiastic! haha.

there's nothing wrong with DS2500's for a road car, they're bloody good for fast road kind of use, and I've run a set in the past and been more than happy with them.

On track though, their downfalls very quickly become apparent, overheating too easily, and leaving pad deposits on discs, and simply not offering enough stopping power.

This hardly seems like your average road car to me, with the wide arch kit, massive wheels, £1200 race seats, cage, 8 pot brakes, it's awesome, and I love it.

I'd just have expected it to have a race pad on such monster brakes rather than a fast road pad.

Until very recently, I've been running DS3000's for the past year , and they absolutely blow the DS2500's out of the water every single time, the difference is night and day.

That said, i guess you'll have a job to overheat such massive discs anyway, so who knows!

It aint my car :p
it aint my thread..

Well DS3000 are meant for track use.

How do they get up to operating temp compared to DS2500?

What about disc wear? as i know from friends that they kinda blow the discs :p

I found my DS3000's didn't really need to get up to operating temp at all, straight away from cold the bite was FAR sharper than the 2500's or standard, and they only got better as they got hotter, as for disc wear, my DS3000's were on for their full life and the discs havn't worn at all, no detectable lip on the edge what so ever.

I suffered more disc wear when using 2500's!

My ds2500's have eaten my discs, there's pretty decent lip on them now and there really noisey.

I'll be replacing them with mintex pads next time I think as I don't do track days anyways.

Looking nice mate!!!

We are using the same pads.

FRP 3077H

6pot and 8 pot use the same pads ;) 330 and 356 :)

same pot design etc etc.

Make sure you clean well those bleeding valves once you install them as the paint on those callipers aint that great and it will peel off in that area.

I did. With Ds3000's on the same brakes using Motul brake fluid in a 1138kg car with just 280hp. That was a pure track car with R888's and driven in a way that would have destroyed just about any other car I can think of (well serviced, just pushed really hard on track) These are phenomenal brakes but you may need to experiment with pad material over the first couple of years, that's all.

Great update and that cage looks pretty good. This is going to be one hell of a spec. for a fast road car [B)]

Bloody good effort mate.
