Sound system issues...

Hi all,

I have a '14 FR184 SC that has the technology pack (Sat nav unit) and the Seat Sound system

I seem to have a sound system that decides on its own if the music is too loud for me or not, and its really fecking annoying! Ill have it up at a level (say 8 out of 10) and then want to turn it up to 10 (or 11, if your old enough to remember Spinal tap) and there is no increase in volume... it will also often be loud at the start of a track, and then automatically reduce the volume level once the bass etc kicks in....
Does anyone know if this is a limitation of the head unit, the seat sound system part of the gubbins or the speakers themselves? would replacing the speakers with decent quality components resolve it or is it something that could be achieved via VCDS?

I spend a lot of time in the car (on the carpark of the M4 and M25) and its starting to really bug me!

I dont get this. Does it do it with radio or from aux or both?

All input types. Ive been through the menus, all of the volume controls are turned to full, and where there are ones, auto sound reduction is turned off etc..

I'd say it's either a fault, or maybe the music your playing and at the volume your playing it when the Bass cuts in is overloading the amp and causing it to clip, reducing the power and hence the volume

that makes sense, I guess Im trying to understand if that head unit and seat sound combo should equal being able to distort the sound (by overloading) or if its standard that it does what happens to me, that the sound is reduced

I'd say your just overloading the amp, does the boot sub have its own amp ? -a look at how many leads it has going too it will tell you- or does it use the head unit amp ?
If it uses the head unit amp , then I would certainly say your trying to get more out the system than it can deliver, as opposed to there being a fault with it

It will be if there is too much base for the sub and amp, it will auto lower the volume to prevent any damage to the sub.

Really annoying when you have a song that doesn't have constant base, keeps going louder and quieter!

Only option is to adjust the base on the equalizer and the sub volume so that there is not as much base, this will allow the speakers to play louder.
