been to kwik fit today and put it up on the rumps...old boy down there seems to think there is a screw or pung missing from the back of the turbo which would explain the screw falling out somewhere....

would this also explain the exhaust sounding differenet and there being no dump because theres not enough pressure???

yes. if there is a gaping hole somewhere on the turbo housing this might explain your problem. just phone backdraft or that and see if they can sort you out with a bolt or bung.

would also explain why it sounds like a tractor lol

will it do any damage if i drive it still but not boost it...just changing gear at around 2-2.5k??

where can i get a bolt or bung from....

does anyone know what sort or bolt or bung it is with or a picture of anything???

as i said above try backdraft or any of the big vag tuners they might beable to help you or give you the number for someone that will.

you need to take this car to a company that knows what there talking about end of story really! your not goin to be able to fix it yourself because you clearly dont know what your talking about!!

get it booked in somewhere!

just thought as i was writing you havnt gone over and banged the exhaust on something and broke a lambda prob e off have you????

not too sure to be honest....

was just seeing if anyone knew anything about it really...

no need to be so sarcy about it..

just in need of some help before i go to a main dealer...

Hi guys...

i own JJ_arosa's old 2001 ko4 silver ibiza...

had another thread going but wasn't really going anywhere...

anyway, my car sounds like theres a split/hole somewhere...

sounds abit like a tractor but not the worse noise i've ever heard anyway...

while driving it still boosts fine but the DV noise is none existent...

Had a look around engine bay but couldn't see any pipes that were loose or off anywhere...

next step is too have a look from underneath at exhaust and any pipes or anything from underneath on tuesday...

Popped down to kwik fit a couple of days ago and got it up onto the ramps...

The bloke down there seems to think there is a hole where a bung/plug used to be that may have popped out of the back of the turbo or surrounding area due to too much boost..

how much would you read into this??

anyone else had any similar problems???

loose bolts, split gaskets and flexies etc

any help would be gratefull

i didnt double post.....i started a new thread but a mod must have moved it into here..

anyway about this vagcom lead and software that i need...

can anyone point me in the right direction into where to getting it from please...

been told there on ebay and had a look but don't have a clue which one i need...

yeah i know...don't trust kwik fit to be honest but they have a ramp so thought i would get down there to use it

are these similar symptoms to think its a coilpack are they???

jj arosa says its the bung as it happened 2 him apparently and he temporarily fixed it with a wheel nut or something

anyways hes now banned from here for some reason (can anyone eg an admin tell me why as he wants 2 know )

your car doesnt have standard parts on it all your exhaust will be custom a seat dealer wont be able to help you!

im not being sarcy about anything, some people just need to use there common sence and take a look at there car themselves to find the problem before starting poorly explained problem threads its happening far far too often!you need to understand what your car is and how it works more!

im running the same turbo setup as you fitted it all myself and have done all the work on all my ibizas myself and a really dont know what your trying to describe!! jack the car up get under it and take a look if you dont have any friends in the trade with a ramp if you still cant see the problem take some pics and post them up so we can see what your on about!

+1

have read his explanation over a few times and still dont get it

from previous experience, when you get a tractor type sound it normally means something is cracked, or is loose

check the bolts on the turbo, see if any of them is loose. if they are loose, then a leak occurs and causes a "blowing" or "tractor" like sound, or it could be the downpipe or manifold which is cracked

however, when does the tractor like sound occur? does it happen when the engine is cold, or do you have to get it really hot first for it to start sounding quite rough?

in my issues recently with my manifold, I had to get it really hot first, as metal expands and this is when I had a blowing/tractor sound occur

What DV are you running again? Standard Bosch unit or Forge 007p?

If you are saying you are getting no noise from the DV, have you actually taken it off the car to see if it is sticking or not (if you have the Forge one) i.e. has it been serviced recently?

EDIT: I just read back over this thread and you said you "think" you have a Forge DV, if so, does it look like the picture below?? (in black or polished)

try to answer these questions as best you can so we can actually make some progress with the issues you are having

is a forge split r dump valve.

and the blanking plate has come out the back of the turbo, get another 19mm nut to put in it
