Hi guys,

After a bit of advice.

My clutch is slipping and gears are getting a little hard to choose.

Bought a Southbend stage 1 clutch (as I run 275bhp stage 2 map) and its come from JBS.

It has a SACHS friction plate and the southbend back plate (pressure plate)

Question from my mechanic is....will the LUK flywheel work OK with this?

We were trying to get our hands on a SACHS flywheel just incase its needed and not intolerance but the only version ECP/GSF is a LUK version (which is OEM i understand)

Does anyone have a LUK flywheel mated to a SACHS friction plate?

Cheers

Rich

Want to keep it feeling as OEM as possible tbh so don't want to go SMF.

Ive bought that stage 1 southbend kit, its just if the DMF needs changing thats all. Will be checking the tolerance and go from there. Wednesday could get pricey.

£505 for the southbend kit.
£175 fitting
and possible £250 flywheel :(

Do any stretch bolts need replacing at all?

Hi guys, just wondering here ive got an 2002 cupra (only 180bhp version) in the mornings it is hard to get into any gear and then even with clutch fully down it still trys to pull off yet after a lil bit of driving it has plenty of biting point and gears are lovely...any thoughts? been told it could need new clutch and fly wheel which is around 800 mark or could just be a hydraulic problem with slave cylinder is it?? just after some info as dont wana get robbed having new clutch and flywheel if it doesnt need it you see what i mean

Could try resetting the selectors and changing the gearbox oil to rule these out
Could be a hydraulic, when was brake fluid last changed as it does clutch too

yeah someones going to look tommorow for me and hopefully tell me what it is, and brake fluid level is topped up so not leaking etc and only had the car a few months although it does have full service history so assuming it has been done at last service. surely if the actuall clutch and or flywheel were knackered it wouldnt not work when first started and then work fine 20 mins later??

My first leon was just like you described, and my current one has started as well. It is normall diagnosed as the flywheel. Cheapest things to try are as suggested. Master cylinder, fluid swap, maybe gearbox oil as well.

I went the whole hog for around £750 last time for genuine Sachs parts, clutch flywheel, slave cylinder, clutch fluid and gearbox oil all for good measure!

Oh yeah the flywheel was £249.99 from ECP (normally £500) as I got it at trade price :)

Quite note about the JBS southbend supplied clutch, bit odd as the pressure plate was LUK and just had JBS stickers on (and painted day glow green) and the friction plate was SACHS marked. So I am questioning JBS and they are questioning SOUTHBEnd as to which part was performance and which bit was theres!

My mechnic thought it a bit odd that it was just LUK and SACHS parts jsut like standard ones! :)
