Spark Plug Snapped

Hi,

I’ve got a Seat Leon MK3 1.2 TSI and I tried changing spark plugs on it. However, I have managed to snap the bolt off and top half of the plug and it is only the actual thread of the spark plug left in the cyclinder.

I have been told that the whole head will need to come on so need an engine specialist to take a look at it.

Can anyone recommend someone who could do this work (around Birmingham) and have a rough idea what it would cost?

Thanks in advance.

Have had this happen to me with a motorcycle before. Unfortunately it is going to be a head off job.

Depending on how much of the plug is still protruding, they may have to carefully drill into the centre of the spark plug to get an ezy-out or some sort of tool to remove the remainder of the plug.

Unfortunately I think your looking at a big bill. It wasn't cheap (over £1000 at least) on my bike, and this was a good 10+ years ago, and with easy access to the engine.

Thank you for your response.

I’ve had someone look at it and they’ve confirmed not enough of the plug is showing.

Looks like i’ve gotta fork out the cash unfortunately. Did you have to take it to a special kind of mechanic?
