Speedo & Mileage Problem

Hi, Wonder if anyone can help or has experienced a similar problem

53 Plate Toledo Petrol

Got in the car this morning to find the Speedo is not working, My Mileage is not increasing and that every tiny corner swings my petrol needle around and i am sure you can imagine how annoying the beep for the petrol has become

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this. Are they all interconnected, Engine Managment light has now appeared but only after a 20mile round trip

Have you tried taking the speedo out and checking all the cables are properly connected at the rear? Otherwise can't really think what would cause this unless the whole speedo unit is faulty.

speedo is electronically driven by a sender on the grearbox which acts up occasionally. More worrying is the fact that there are other faults with the dash cluster - these do give trouble and are a dealer job as the immobiliser is linked them. Saying that, fuel senders also are a common fault so you may have 2 coincidental issues

If it is a cluster fault and you dont wanna spend £600+ try www.bba-reman.co.uk. They'll fix your existing pod and post it back to you, all you have to do is make sure the fault IS the pod, have it removed, post it to them, recieve it back and have it re-fitted - no recoding or imobiliser issues - same pod - same code (but it works) and it'll only cost you around £200.
Just have the faults properly diagnosed first - thats only a helpful link there to use if you need to.

What's happening? I have the same problem with my Leon 1.4. (As well as Madmarcus and VegasKid) I can't understand how the two problems are linked unless it is a wiring fault. (OMG!) I have tried another speed sender in the gearbox and have pulled out the instument cluster to try a 1.6 unit. Neither cleared the fault and the 1.6 unit added 100,000 miles to the odometer. I have asked around and not been able to find a compatible instument cluster from breakers. Even if I do there are issues over the immobiliser which are worrying. I don't have VagCom (should I get one?) to find the error codes.
Does anybody else have any advice please?
