One thing is that my Open Cone Filter has no foam like a K&N would, its a metal type gauze....as Acid said above, you hearing an echo of the dump, therefore the less restriction you have for the sound the louder it will be, hence TIP and open cone filter (with no foam!), the K03s makes a nicer dump than the K03, and the N249 bypass just makes it crisp...
If you have a cold air feed CONNECTED to the end of your induction, the sound will emerge from wherever the end of the cold air feed is, I have TWO cold air feeds DIRECTED at the induction, therefore allowing the "dumpage" to come out the induction kit itself. The benefit of this is that the noise comes from the right area, its loud, and the induction kit gets plenty of cold air

when i had my ibiza it came with a open cone filter and u could hear the dv abit but as soon as i put the viper indution kit on then i lost it. it didnt have any cold air feed to it thats why i changed it and instead of the filter bein red it was black so thought i'll treat my self.
i know i'm a leon driver now but it sound good so think i'll be getting one of those

Sounds really nice. So is it well worth getting one then Gav? Ive still have the standard and it starting to chatter so looks like it needs replacing. Dont really want to go for the Forge 007p then regret not getting this new Forge Split one.

Well if you still have standard dv then its definately worth changing, I really like the sound with the split-r compared to my 007 but thats all personal preference really, you wont need any fitting kit.......just directly replaces your standard bosch on the tip.
yeah they chatter.....at first i though it was just mine but it appears that this is what they do.....different though.
just running a green cotton cone filter on mine.....still havnt got my cold air feed up to it yet, its sat at home waiting for about 2 minutes attention.
Put one on mine to test it out and it made hardly any difference, that was with a standard airbox/green panel filter with cai.
Alex at TTS swapped my green spring for a yellow one and that made the same noise as the split-r, still pretty quiet but imo the split-r isnt all that, prob would get a bit louder after time but nowhere near what some of you guys have got with re-circ/open cone.

yeah.....if it wasnt for the bargain price id say it wasnt worth the money but ive got it now and i like it so its staying on the car.......
