Hi all,

My Leon FR PD150 has covered only 5.7K miles and there is noticeable squeal from the brakes :(

Only really occurs when lightly using the brakes, I have never had to stand on them....its really high-pitched.

Has anyone else experienced this, is it the OEM pads that are used by Seat?

Something to mention at my frst service?

All help appreciated.

Me too, 12.5k in the clock, havent worked out whether there front or back yet?
Although I have notice my handbrake elavates a lot more than it used too so maybe it's the rear brakes?

Yeah i have a 05 TDi on 8k miles, my breaks are doing the same, all at low speeds it is coming from the rear one, my handbrake elevates a lot more too, I have rang the dealer (Ted Johnson in Barnsley) they say its a build up of breakdust between the pads and disc. They want 60 quid as it is not a warranty work! to clean the breaks and resurface the discs.

No way thats robbery, i have the same problem only when im reversing and braking, rest is just fine, touchwood! mines cover 8.5k....

Noisy disks on Leon Cupra & Cupra R are common, have a search, loads of people have commented on it.

The noisy brakes when reversing can be fixed under warranty, the above search would give the answer to what's done to fix it.

Why dont you remove the pads clean all the rubbish out and give the pads a good coating of copper slip this should get rid of the squealing:)

also a good way to remove any braking ability ;)

only apply copper slip to the back & edges of the pad backing:p

Im gonna ring the dealers and ask about the modified handbrake cable brackets cos mine squeals like hell when parked on a slope and i get out.

load of old cobblers. take the pads off then apply copper grease to the BACK of the pads then replace.
