Standard mk3 Security

Been alot on the news recently on how much car thefts there are about in my area. The whole of N.ireland infact. ( Dunno bout you guys n gals across the water) but it got me thinking.

How secure would my 1.4 be ?
Its standard at the moment. Only factory fitted alarms/imobiliser if any)


I know its only a 1.4 tin and no merc but shes mine and i love her

TBH if some one want to nick a car, they will. They're either guna think 'nah, aint worth the bother', or 'that's an easy picking'. You can't win dude. You just have to take precautions like park it in a well lit place or where there's lots of people all day.
You should have a little red light flashing by the driver side door pin if you have an alarm, so that maybe enough to deter them??
Most importantly... use your common sense! Don't leave things on show, rub off any sucker marks from the windows etc etc. If you don't put anything in the glove box, leave it open saving them the hassle.

Well it aint guna get nicked without the key as they have a fuel immobiliser so unless they toe it so its highly unlikely you'l find it gone when you wake up, dont ask me how i kno it cant be taken without the key tho lol.

For your own piece of mind tho you can get a decent cat 1 alarm/immobiliser fitted for £300 these days

I don't think I've heard of a mk3 being "hotwired" the keys are always stolen or they are chucked on the back of a tow truck

Should be active all the time when the keys not in the ignition mate, locked or not locked.

I actually wondered that myself cos I have to do it with the golf, it deadlocks it on the second press. You can hear it sounds different on the second click where as the beefa sounds no different so came the the conclusion it can only be pressed once?

IIRC, pressing the button once is alarm and immob whereas using the key in the door doesn't set the alarm, only locks and immobilises? It's detailed in the handbook somewhere but was ages ago I looked it up

306's are similar have a seperate button for dead lock
not entirely convinced on how usefull a dead lock is though when you've got a smashed window

The 1.4 models dont have an alarm they just have the immobiliser
