Question:
Can the ECU be reprogrammed to accept a standard steering racks angles rather than the Cupra R quick rack angles?
Explanation:
To elaborate on the above I have a Seat Leon Cupra R which come with a quick steering rack as many of you know. The rack has been replaced with a standard rack and the traction control light is on constantly, fault showing as steering angle incorrect. Can the ECU be reprogrammed to accept the new standard steering angles? OR possibly could I replace the angle sensor behind the steering wheel to resolve? Is the steering angle sensor the same in LCR and standard Cupra?
Background Story:
The steering rack started leaking on my LCR I found (what at the time seemed like a good deal) another quick steering rack had it replaced via a garage. The traction light came on and stayed on, garage said it'll go after after a few miles ... It didn't. So I connected the VCDS tool and kept getting the error msg about steering angle being off by 30° either way, leading me to believe that the steering rack I bought wasn't a quick rack and was just a standard rack. Now rather than having to spend a big whack on sourcing and replacing the rack again. I was thinking is there any other cheaper fix for the issue. The quickness of the steering doesn't really bother me, I'm quite happy driving without the extra sharpness so to say.
