steering

i have just had my car lowered yesterday all was fine drove nice all tight, then i took a nasty rndbout hard and now the steering is all out i need to hold the steering wheel to the left to drive straight, can this be put back right with wheel enlinement?? the car is ok and eveerything is nice a tight still....jus the steering the wheels are toeing slightly right and the cambers look inward

What suspension have you got???

Alighning the wheels isn't a problem but camber could be a different story!!

i just lowered it on 30mm springs...koni... it might not be camber...but lining the wheels will get my steering wheel straight again tho right??

should do. when you drop the car it affects all the angles. It will change the camber but i dont think this can be changed back, so I'd imagine however much it changes should be safe.

When the steering is straight the wheels are pretty straight though yeah?

when steering wheel is dead centre and upright the wheels are both slightly turned to the right and when u turn the steering wheel slightly let the wheels face stright to gether, so when driving u have to hold steering wheel left slight for the car to drive straight/

No his tracking would of been put out of line. The bottom of the wheel should stick out more that the top as the struts have been moved up 30mm.

Yeah the tracking will, the camber will. but i dont think its possible to change the camber back.

When you let go of the wheel does the car drive straight but the wheel is turned or does it pull?

If it pulls then getting the tracking done should cure this.

yeah jus looked at it the top of the wheels turn in....tht i expected but it jus i need my steering wheel to be nomal position when goin straight

when i let go with car goin straight an wheel turned left it dives straight yes...

take off the steering wheel and turn it then mate, easy to do

Though your tracking will be about a bit if you've lowered the car and so should be done.

idid think of tht...how hard is it....will it disturb the air bag.....? how do i do it...?

also if i get the tracking done to easy my mind....how much is tracking?/

T30 torx bit on the three bolts at the back of the steering wheel will release the air bag, then pull out its little yellow cable. aslo pull off the horn cable.

you wont disturb it but i'd take the battery cable off for 20 mins before doing the job just incase.

24mm socket to take off the nut that holds on the wheel.

tracking is 25ish quid at my local

oh my dear god, it's the blind leading the blind

1) do not touch your steering wheel
2) Once your suspension has been fitted you need to get your car aligned for both camber & toe.
3) The camber is adjustable, the nuts are 11mm, the bolts are 10mm

All easily done, but does need doing.

motorsport prep places - well kitted tyre / suspension fitting firms / decent 'tuning' places

Good alignment - about £100, average "it'll do" alignment - about £50

too cheap, and it'll be out - so not worth paying.

and your wheels will be pointing the in the right direction (which is more important)
