Hi, just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these chip boxes? I think they are nearly as much as a remap, but i arnt 100%. It's just that i could be getting one from work for free and i was wondering what i should expect.

I had one for a bit was a CR Powerbox was nice and easy to put on and take off if you dont want to claim on your insurance but it can cause error readings from the ECU as you modifying inputs. These didnt effect the performance but kicked up error warning lights...

Certainly noticed a big difference in the car but the power distribution was not smooth at all ruined the tyres so fast with it on! fuel consumption did go up by about 6 mpg though. Good fun but i would recommend a proper remap. Word of warning though is do not use the cheap ones as i hear they can really mess the car up! Hope this helps.

Thanks sounds like it's worth a go if it's free i suppose, i think in the end a map is definatly the way to go. Have you got yours mapped now? If so is there much more of a difference? I really want to get mine remapped but it's just being able to afford insurance aferwards.
