Hey peeps I really really need help. I had graphics on my rear window for about 3 months to advertise my business. At the time the car was just over a year old. Now I've removed the stickers, there is no residue on the window but when it rains, the water sticks to where the decals were. I cannot remove this. Tried everything from sticky stuff remover to acetone. 2 mobile valeters cannot shift it. They guy who put the stickers on saying its not the stickers.... Well it certainly didn't leave writing marks before they were on. I really don't want to be paying forget stuff that doesn't work as the decal cost me £20-£25! I am stuck!! Rant over.

Have you tried some neat IPA, certainly wouldnt use acetone reminds me of Hangovers in a Boatyard with GRP.

Surely that Nanolex will just keep whatever is on my window on it...
What's IPA?

Isopropanylol (sp?) detailers use it between stages of polishing to remove polish residue and make sure a level of correction has been achieved....not really going to work in your case though.

Only thing i can think of other than residue is that the bonding agent used in the stickers has a had a reaction with the glass and caused a change in texture. If that's the case I'd say its either a case of replace the glass or seal it in with nanolex (or similar product) and live on with it.

I would definitely carry on assuming there is some kind of residue there though

IPA,one of the best best things for cleaning glass,If you dont know why comment..

Certainly is,
IPA has been used for years to clean glass on vehicles and remove residue.
Its worth a try .This is a helpful forum so dont blast people down trying to help!

IPA will dissolve most things due to its ionic (-OH groups) and anionic (isopropyl backbone) nature iirc? Along with a low boiling point so it evaporates quickly.

I wasn't blasting, apologies if that's the way you feel. Was merely offering advice as to how I would approach the situation. However I IPA does work then it's definitely a cheaper way to resolve!

No problem I will put my Handbag away:D

Timing is great I have a Leon to do that has the remnants of a delivery sticker etched to the glass so will advise how I get on, only visible when window steamed up. and if dont will look with interest how this thread develops to solve.

Tried meths... Spoke to a guy who tints windows(Magma), says there is nothing I can really do apart from keep polishing. Not the answer I really wanted! But the dude from stevie walkers Bodyshop in Bathgate seemed to have made a difference cause I came home and washed it off before going to see Andy @ Magma. I have emailed them asking for the name of it... So will keep you posted...

Managed to get sticker residue of inside windshield off that was etched onto the glass.
All types of glass cleaner were used and in the end I used Toothpaste on a piece of kitchen roll the actual Toothpaste was called Aquafresh Ultimate Took it of in seconds.
Hope this helps you
