I had a look under the bonnet last night and i see there are a few small round markings round the strut covers. they looked to me as though they represented where i would want to be drilling if fitting a strut brace. Am i right?

Was thinking of getting the OMP upper strut brace. Will this go on with the standard airbox? I can only see from folks pics that they have induction kits on.

Not sure about when the air box is on
but if you fit the omp one you dont need to no where to drill as its such a good fit you can drill though the bolt holes
took me 5mins max to fit

Strut braces are miles away from the airbox. Ignore any marks on the strut turrets - offer up the brace, mark the holes, take it off, repeat again so you're 100% sure it sits right - centre punch the holes and drill. The metal is thick so make sure the drill bit is sharp. I used M8 bolts so use an 8 or 9mm HSS drill bit.

Treat the bare metal holes with something to protect them from rusting then fit the brace, making sure the bolts are really tight. It's easier to push the bolts up from underneath and put the nuts on top - plus if you ever need to undo them the nuts won't be corroded solid underneath.

I covered the bolt heads in underseal underneath so nothing gets corroded or rusty.

If I go for it I'll get JKM to do it I think. I'll also go for an S3 one from Audi.

All depends how the money pans out over the coming months

Providing you treat the bare metal holes then treat the bolt heads uderneath with underseal there is no danger of rust. I recently removed mine to have it powdercoated, when I removed the bolts there was zero sign of anything, I treated the holes with hammerite 2 years ago when fitting - no problems.

Do it once - do it properly!
