stuck in reverse

hey was just wondering if this had happened to anyone else or if any one has any suggestions.
i was reversing my leon into a parking space then when i went to put it into first it would not leave reverse. spent a few hours trying to get the car out of revers but will not move. checked all linkages but they seem free.
any help??

this happened in my rover after i crashed it. used a hammer to knock it back out...lol.

Silly question but have you tried starting the engine and slowly release the clutch without moving it to try and free itup a bit?

worth a go, sometimes in cars when it doesnt go into gear you need to dissengage and re-engage the clutch, guess there is no reason why it cant happen in reverese!?

So where is your car, in a shopping car park os something, or have you had it trucked home. If it where me after about 30 mins of trying i call assist and get it taken to a garage, what else can you do unless you are a mechanic?

the car works as normal in reverse. i tried driving it around the car park a bit and kept trying to release it. still no luck tho. tried moving the release within the engine bay with a crow bar but will not shift. ended up towing the car home with clutch depressed. lol. wasnt too fun. not that far tho.
