Hi All

I picked up my new (to me) LCR on Saturday, and am planning sound system upgrades.

Before I picked up the car, I was imagining swapping the headunit (now done), putting some component speakers in the door and then amping them.

My idea was to hide the amp, which is just a small two-channel, under the passenger seat, and then put a small underseat sub under the drivers seat. Massive bass isn't really my goal, just a bit more power to the sound.

However, now I have the car I see that you can't fit anything under the seats at all! Has anyone come up with another clever hiding place for such things? Or is a boot enclosure the only option?

I don't really want to take up all that space (and add so much weight), but not sure what other options there might be.

Cheers

You can get a custom fit boot enclosure which fits in the gap on the LHS of the boot? I don't think they take up too much room?

Cheers for the response. I did actually look at these, but I wasn't that impressed by the finish (going from the manufacturers photo when fitted in the car), plus you still have to hide the amp somewhere. I may come back to it, but it was a bit more money than I was really planning on spending too!

Another thought that occurred was to mount an underseat sub to the rear seat on the boot side - not a pretty solution but shouldn't take much space. I don't know if this is any good for sound though.

I don't think you'd get the desired effect if you mounted it like that. Because of their size, underseat subwoofers should be in the cabin really. Plus it's better to mount them to something solid like the floor for better bass.

Makes sense.

I think for now I'll concentrate on fitting and amping the front speakers.

I'll have to give a sub some more thought. I did see one gut fitted what was effectively an underseat unit where the rear fold-down armrest normally goes.

I'm not sure if that would sound any good though, or how I feel about the idea either!
