Not very nice disparaging a young girl who may be just starting out in life, maybe she just needs to learn/be taught, you hopefully, have had the wisdom of years to learn. Also, as to the oil change, I'm sure it would not be impossible to drain the oil into a clean container then put back into the engine.
The
garage in question used to have a young girl on the desk who was very good. Not much older but you never had an issue with her. Then this new girl appeared beside her. It's not just that she doesn't know anything about cars, she doesn't seem very bright generally and barely seems to understand what you're asking. You ask her a question and she repeats it back completely incorrectly and you have to say 'no, that's not what I want!'. Turns out it's the owners daughter and the decent kid has left so now you're fecked.
Sorry, but I'm not this kid's social worker. If someone is in a job that effects the
service I'm paying for I expect them to be capable of doing the job. The other
garage I called does not have a child on the desk. Your call is answered by a mechanic. I've been here before. I used to look after about a dozen vehicles for the place I worked and the woman on reception at the
garage we used drove me crazy. You'd ask for something to be done and when you picked the vehicle up they'd done something else because she'd passed the message on incorrectly.
The place I worked for over thirty years went bust at least partly because the owner made his son a director when his son was neither bright enough or business minded enough for the job. If this
garage owner wants to put his daughter on the desk that's his choice but wanting to use a
garage staffed by people with at least basic competency is mine.
Yes, you could reuse the oil but it's a risk. You'd need to make sure there was no dirt or debris in the catch tray and then keep the oil uncontaminated until it was time to put it back into the engine. I can't see that happening in a
garage environment. I'll be asking for fresh oil and I'll check I got it.
