Sup gangsta's, what do you guys normally torque the sump plug to?
 
I use a breaker bar to get mine nice and snug.

dont get it too snug,tried that on mine and managed to strip the thread as the sump on mine was alloy and the bolt is steel!!

torque wrench for me on everything since.

its 30NM on a diesel.

I agree completely with what you've written - and I'm talking about a petrol engine with an alloy sump.

The previously quoted 15NM is really only for the bolts securing the sump to the base of the engine.

Torque wrenches are quite expensive, but how many stripped threads does one torque wrench save - probable quite a lot - so that means they do save a lot of money!!
