SupaGuard Swirls!

When i bought my cupra had the supaguard treatment which has lasted quite well, but am now noticing minor swirl marks on the paintwork is there anyway of removing these without removing the supaguard If anyone can help??

If you have washed and polished your car regularly the supaguard will be LONG gone - for what that stuff costs you're far better going to see a professional detailer - it's not the supaguard disappearing that's showing swirls up, it's your washing technique

3M hand glaze takes out swirl marks a treat. Not the easiest to get your hands on tho. click on the prestige polish link on the ads they should have something that works

Technically it doesn't take out swirls, it's a product that is heavy in fillers so it's just filling in the swirls and not removing them (same thing that Autoglym Super Resin Polish).

To remove swirls you'll need a machine polisher with a mild to medium cutting compound and if you have never used one you need to get a good detailer to do it for you. It's the only way to do it correctly but as mentioned above a poor wash technique causes swirls. I would love to offer my services but I am from N. Ireland, get yourself onto detailingworld and check your local region for anyone that could help you out if you do want rid of the swirls.

Surely it would come down to how hard/light you 'press' your applicator / sponge / mit against the body of the car while washing (sandpaper effect)?

I used Scratch-X to remove light key marks from the door of a previous car.
Looked great afterwards................. until dusk, when the swirl marks seemed to appear!

Yes to a certain extent but you need to be using the correct gear to begin with, 2 buckets, grit guards in both, 2 lambswood mitts (1 for wheels and one for body) pre foam if possible, it can all get quite obsessive and all comes down to how far you want to go to have perfect finish paint.

Personally I use a mitt for the top half of my car, then one for the lower half and clean my wheels with a separate wheel mitt thing

I recycle the Mitt I use for the Alloys... When the Mitt i use for the car paintwork starts to look a bit ragged, it then becomes my new Wheel mitt.
(would never use the same 1 for both!).

I found swirl x hard work on a VAG paint as its very hard so got limited results for the effort put in, but use dodo juice supernatural to finish its stunning - highly recommended
