Model Year 24/25 Surprised by road noise (2024 Formentor V2 facelift)

Hi All. I recently bought a 74 plate Formentor V2 and I'm surprised at how loud it is when driving on normal roads.

I have the 1.5 eTSI with Pirelli P Zero tyres. There is no engine top cover - I was told was removed due to fire risk recall. There is no sound deadening under the the bonnet. When driving at 60 on a half-decent UK road surface (which is hard to find !) the road noise is much louder than my last car (1.5 TSI Skoda Karoq).

I was considering using some adhesive backed acoustic sound deadening sheets, but I am worried the adhesive will deteriorate due to heat from the engine.

I'd very much welcome any views or solutions you may have used, if you've encountered similar.

Cheers, and thanks in advance for any tips.

I'm a bit puzzled... The topic title and also in your description you mention "Road noise" - so why would you worry about the sound deadening under the bonnet? Most of the road noise comes directly from the tires, especially since Cupra installed plastic protections under the front wheel arches - not at all useful in soundproofing.
Also, the 1.5 TSI engine on the facelift model has no engine cover by design - it was not removed due to fire risk recall (that's an old story regarding only the 2.0 TSI engines of the pre-facelift). The facelift 1.5 TSI has a ridiculously-small plastic cover surrounding the oil-cap.

Some owners use the adhesive sound deadening sheets directly under the wheel arches to reduce the road noise. See posts/pictures in the link from our fellow-Octavians:

Thank you regarding the wheel arch sound deadening. I'll give it a go.
