Right been payed last monday and so far i got some coilovers to fit this weekend coming, a set of 4 Falken 452s and my 60k service and cambelt on wednesday,

What else do i need for changing suspension ive herd drop links bushes etc and other bit but ive no clue.

Im doing the suspension myself on saturday and then ill go get my tyres done so i can have the alignment done at the same time.

Anyone offer me some wisdom from there experiance?

I've just had mine dropped and didn't change anything, now I've got the dreaded front end creak which I'm pretty sure is coming from the arb bushes, so going to get some uprated ones

Ah this old nutmeg. Well it depends on how low you want to go and what car you have, by that i mean some mk4 golfs and leons came with slightly different thickness driveshafts. So you wont know if you need to change things about until you have lowered the car. I went quite low and it started to rub. So i changed the drop links to adjustable ones, and it still rubbed. I have just fitted a new (eibach) ARB and its cured, not to mention uprated to steering sooo much. If you have the cash, buy coilovers and a new ARB. Job done.

Dont spend so much in the first week of getting paid, or you;ll be eating beans by the end of it?!

Sounds good mate, I have got coilovers cause if i got springs id end up wanting it lower or higher lol.

i might get ARB but they are fairly expensive, but i heard ill need bushes etc etc

not entirely sure what needs replacing especially as its 66k miles now.

just do the bushes and bearings whilst youve got it off mate, dead easy to do.

itsthe bottom near the strut housing thats an arse

gsf for bushes and bearings, cheap as...

All i changed was top mounts dude, like rubber cups bout 7 quid each.

An that was that!!

Jimski

Are the uprated/powerflex bushes worth getting or do you get uprated ones with new arb?
was thinking about fitting the front fk one.........sorry to steal the thread btw

2 fronts and 2 backs,

do i need the sport ones or normal?

im guessing a 110 tdi has normals anyway but still if im putting coilovers on em .

Arbs would be for handling though im happy with how the car handles now tbh, its just with the big gap between the wheels and arches since i put 18s on.

Maybe if I got a bit more power id up the handling but till then I'm happy with just dropping it down.

Ill order the top mounts once i know which ones to buy :)

If i was you, i would just do the suspension. Then you can get your ride height to what you want it at and see what needs doing after. I bought an Eibach ARB for £135 inc VAT its amazing. Talk to Rueben from tuningwerks, they on are here. It comes with bushes. I also got adjustable drop links. Talk to tuningwerks again.

i was more thinking the sport ones are 10p cheaper :D

lol

I was only gonna lower to what i think looks about right and then if its too low for sumps and stuff ill get a guard from america when im next out there.

probably better idea :)

its just might as well do the strut tops while im in there save pulling it all out again to be fair.

Are you doing the suspension at home? Are the strut bolts the ones with the hex key cut out in the middle? I cant remember.
