to update you all we are now trying to put the car back together, the tracking is way out and the suspension rod is twisted so not entirely sure what to do to get it to a garage.

no no no the whole suspension strut was twisted round and we couldnt move it :/ well its now sitting outside a local garage and waiting for a call tomorrow morning.

lil update Is now in the garage lol. hope to have it back before end of the week. Its going to be soooo much faster too. with all the weight they will take out my wallet

Looking to have a go at removing the front strut/spring on wifes cupra as the coil spring snapped yesterday. Can i just check that the spring does not need tobe compressed to remove from the car? Also Seat advised that normal to replace just the one spring and not in pairs, which i thought was little strange? seat quoted £122+vat to fit. To others that have done the work, would this be £122+vat well spent? Thanks

no 122 plus vat is ridiculous for an easy job, above problems havent come from the springs....

you dont need to compress the springs to get off car but you will need to compress to take off the strut once off the car

Thanks for that james. Will get my spring ordered up now and fit myself. Cheers.

i/d get a garage to fit them drop them off nice cup of tea maybe a choccy biscuit and take it home lol im lazy but the hassle of if it goes pete tong having part if i bust something out weighs the cost in my opinion. ( i wouldnt take it to seat for the fitting a idepedant garage would charge about £60 plus alignment )

bang on, my problems wern't the spring they were the tie rod, which requires gas clamps etc to fit back, and i just dont have them lol. ssoooo, although the springs is a bitchy job, its doable.

Garage is refusing to fit my coilovers :( i dunno where else to take em? :( would the car be ok on a dodgey strut for the trip from brighton to reading :/
