ok so i got some GMAX 30mm drop spring/shock set off gtikezz, and i finally got round to putting them on, everytime i got around a corner it feels jerky, and you can hear a wheel skidding? what can this be?
i didn't replace top mounts, could they cause this? as the suspension strut looks solid to me

one problem is, on the front drivers side top mount, when doing them up, it shows no thread, but the passenger shows the normal like half/one inch thread on the top? could this mean i need to take the strut out, then compress spring and tighten the nut that holds the thing together?

thanks (and i am not blaming gtikezz for giving bad suspension, as they had it before, just dunno what's wrong lol) needs to be sorted ASAP really

1) Gmax is ****
2) Second hand Gmax is worse than 1)
3) You have fitted it wrong. Disassemble, fit properly. If you can't do this, leave it alone & phone a mobile mechanic who can.

The last thing you want is the strut to shear off

The skidding noise is probably the camber being miles off & hitting the wheel arch liner

thanks mork, the strut was already assembled, so i just swapped over mate, so just thought someone might have experienced it!

you might be right about camber, any way to adjust? thanks

the camber is easily adjustable on the hub

thanks mate, is that the 2 bolts that attach onto the hub?

also i think it's the front shocks that might be shot causing the jumpy-ness, so if i put my standard shocks with the lowering springs, will that be ok?

Yep it should be alright as long as the front shocks are ok.

Dont know how long standard shocks will last on lowering springs though.

thanks craig and dan!
yeah i heard the same, some people 2-3months, some 2-3years, well i cannot afford some gmax shock replacements atm, so i will probably swap my standards over (and i have spare standards at home too)

ok so shocks were absolutely SHOT! they could be pushed down with a single finger/no force at all!

i changed the fronts back to standard shocks, but back shocks are shot too, but it is 100times better then before, so will do them mon-fri next week (as using my mates tools)
i like my height now tho! :D

I think Dan said he was running 40/40 split? Mine's sat at 60/40 on the kit I have on at the moment, hence if you look especially from the front, mine sits lower. youll poss find Skots runs lower than mine and hes on 16's! (although the back wheels are tucked up under the rear arches)
:D

haha yeah i was only kidding john lol
i really like the RA's tho! i might look for a cheap pair and run them, as they looked the mutts nuts mate!

they are a decent looking wheel, ive seen some fairly cheap over on the bay etc, but not too many of the ones I have ( the sportline special edition ones) at one point , I was thinking of getting some more and spraying the centres different to the ones I have , but was always on the look out for Borbets.
:D

yeah cheap ones going atm, i got an idea for the centres (keeps quiet like brummy :p)
was it hard refurbing/polishing lip? i wanna DIY project really!
