Hi all!
New to this forum, and not so good with cars..

I have a Seat Ibize -95, 1.8i GLX and the other day when I filled in some motor oil (parden my english..) I noticed a white weird sticky covering under/around the oil lid. Also, my Ibize won't warm up to 90 degress, not even to 1/4 mark on motor temp gauge. Are these two symptoms related somehow, and do the indicate a broken top gasket?

No other symptoms are noticable at the moment..

Thanks!

The white residue is an emulsion of the oil caused by condensation. Have you been lots of short journeys lately ? when was the last time your oil was changed ?

the white mayo as it appears is a sign of water in the oil usually associated with a head gasket failure but this time of year temperature wise it can be known to appear in a lesser form from condensation etc especially on metal rocker covers

although the temperature isnt reaching normal temp have you checked all the pipes are getting to an even temperature ?

also make sure to keep an eye on the water and oil level and water from the exhaust because if it's blown a head gasket it will be losign a fluid somewhere along the line

Great info! thanks! :) I live in Sweden and I can only agree with all of your comments.. for a long period we have had degress below zero. No other symptoms showing any indication of a busted head gasket.

/Relieved..
