Perfectly fine to run it with the light on, if anything your car will run slightly rich but nothing to worry about, perhaps just a few more exhaust pops and burbles for the time being.

While we're on the subject of 'not wanting to work', get a spare coilpack for the almost inevitable misfire.

Cool, I'm hoping this is what it is then and it's not too serious :)

I've seen so many threads with where to get coilpacks, whose 'in' at the moment to buy from? Euro car parts? GSF? Cheapest price but I want best quality replacement incase it does happen.

Nothing has appeared on mine mate. Ill let you know if it does...

I was about to contact you about it.... literally a minute ago! Yeah keep me updated.

Your map went on smoother than mine, so you might be ok. After my car almost rejected it by crashing the map half way as it was going on, I'm not surprised that this has come up tbh.

Calling them in a bit. But should be resolved soon and mapped out. If yours did come up you could easily leave it till you head back down there on the 29th and get them to do the same.

Great results for both of you guys, be interesting to see the difference once you've fitted the new TIP. Im sure AMD will fix the light problem you currently have.
Great work mate!

Im seriously wanting major changes to my car with all your threads!!!

:p

Get it done then ;)

These cars we're built to be mapped. So much more driveability with the torque lower down kicking in around town etc. I could never keep one standard, no way. So many decent upgrades out there to be had.

Thanks for the nice comment mate :)

I'm hoping for a slight gain with the TIP. Not expecting to catch Coops' 304bhp on the rollers with it alone, god knows if my car will ever make that. But I'm hoping to see some sort of increase not for pub figures, but because it was made as an improved air-flow product..

I'll let you all know how I get on when that time comes around.

Cheers for the info mate. How much is VCDS-lite? I really need to be able to scan my car often instead if waiting for a fault, lol.

The one i ordered come with a cable but no idea if it'll show up the fault. Hopefully it will!

VCDS-lite can be ordered and delivered online from ross-tech for US$99 so about £60 I would think. It should work with the ebay cables OK. I got the unregistered version of VCDS-lite with my cable and it does work, just most of the really useful things (resetting adaptions, recoding stuff like alarm settings, pairing keys, logging anything but blocks 001 - 025, throttle body resets) are not available on the unregistered version.

I also have a basic OBD-II code reader which, like sambryant, I just keep in the glovebox :) I posted a thread in the VAGCOM section asking about basic code readers, have a read of that. There is a good one from a company called Autel I think which is about £40, it's a bit more VAG-specific altho the one I got works fine. The guy that told me about the Autel one only did so after I'd already bought the basic one for about £20 or I'd have spent the little extra and got the better one!

Top man. Some very useful info there. Will test my free one out when that arrives and go from there. But may well be ordering the lite edition in the near future. Thanks for that mate :)

Defo going to get a reader to keep in the car..

UPDATE on calling AmD about the EML light... I explained the situation to them and it should be the 2nd lambda sensor, Ben seems pretty sure it's that.

'Hello Tom,

Thats not a problem to sort out and there would be no charge for this. It is more than likely that it was mapped out but the tolerance was one high enough hence why it has some back on again.

If it is the rear lambda that has brought the light on then it will be no problem to drive the car like this.

I'm down there again on the 22nd Jan, so it can wait till then. Just pleased that it will be sorted out(fingers crossed) and for free :)

Tom, you going to get a very decent gain with the TIP not a slight one trust me.;)
to be fair Tom, if your making 283 bhp at the moment, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the tip takes you into 300 bhp on the AMD dyno. For a true 300 bhp you need to be pulling 240g/sec of air mass but as nobody is posting thier logs its hard to confirm this.

So you have one mate? I hope your right and there is a decent gain to be had!

I don't have full vag-com to do logs of airflow etc :( I would like to know what g/s I am making at the moment. It's pulling like a train.

Had the excess pollution light reset tonight and my mates vag-com showed 2 faults, which I can't remember exactly by code, but one was asking us to check the DV system for a possible leak so we had a quick look. And the 2nd one was the car was running rich/lean. I think this is because of the 1st error though that this has come up...

My mate is sending over the faults and I'll post them up here. But on a quick visual inspection and listening for any hissing we couldn't find any boost leaks. Obviously there's alot more to check out during the daytime.

I was only expecting the 2nd Lambda sensor fault to come up tonight with that on, but that one wasn't even coming up!

After the light was reset, I took the car for a blast and it is pulling like a train still, very very savage acceleration :) So I'm really doubting the boost leak tbh. If there is it is a tiny one.. Also the excess pollution light did NOT come back on during the whole 20-25min blast.

Did you change the spring in the DV ?

Nope and oh my I feel dumb now, I wonder if this is what's causing the DV system error? It's just flagged on vag-com to check it. I will post the codes up when they're sent over to me.

I had the 007p on last year and I didn't change the spring myself.

good thread this is Tom mate. 307 torques?? jeez! I only have 250 hahah

Cheers Brett :)
Yeah it's pulling like a train at the moment! I'm sure yours would make more than 250 in this weather on the rollers.
When mine rolled 307 lb/ft it was very cold and about 6pm in evening.. damp air too. Every little helps ;)
