don't worry about the springs Tom as if the truth be known when the dv is plumbed the correct way around, boost is acting on the side of the piston and the spring tension has no effect on its ability to hold boost. If you connect it the wrong way around its possible that spring tensions matter but since the nipple is equalised by the same boost level its unlikely that spring tension will matter even in this scenario.
That fault code either means a boost leak or your DV needs a little maintenance.
I've been running a 3 inch tip for years now and it makes a big difference..... but i log reguarly as from experience peak boost can rise with the 3inch Tip (on a hybrid at least not least beacuse we run stiffer actuator springs) and i just want to check that you guys are staying within the range of the map sensor to avoid torque spikes that can be detrimental to stock rods. Peak unsustained torque measurements should be treated as the enemy but from what i've seen on the AMD RR plots, the torque graphs look very good.

Forget any negativity regarding RR results your cars are doing the business but i'd like to see the data (logs) out of interest for boost etc as logs of stock k04 turbo's running 3 inch tips etc are thin on the ground.
I'm thinking it'll be a boost leak tbh. The DV seems ok, but then again best to check it and take it apart. I do think I should uprate the spring though to green running this much more boost on full chat now. My boost gauge isn't in yet so I'm not sure what psi I'm making.
How much difference did the 3" TIP make out of interest mate? What would you say roughly?
Coops10's peak boost held better than mine I think that's where the biggest difference was, and it wasn't my fmic so it's gotta be this TIP surely!
Yeah the graph is impressive to be honest and the car doesn't feel like it's spiking too hard and doing any damage. I wanted it to be pretty smooth and it is

Should I get the map tweaked to suit the 3" TIP when that goes on or will it adapt ok itself on stock K04 do you think?
I ignore stupid comments about the rollers tbh, the car feels a million times better and I just want to see gains to see the car is improving with each performance mod. Ok I can aim for 300 on the same rollers and if I get there I know I've been putting the right parts on whether it be a truthful 300 or not, I think it would blow quite a few cars away at the moment I can think of near me like a mapped stage 1 astra vxr close by. Been in that and it feels slower than mine for sure.
Regarding logs, I will request these next time I'm down AmD and on the rollers. I don't have vagcom myself but would love to log it for you guys to compare 3" TIP on standard K04 vs Hybrid etc. I will get as much as I can for you when I can dude.
I had that code when my 007p was sticking open, do the push/finger test to make sure it stays open when its' meant to and shuts when it's meant to as well. Not calling you a liar Robbie just speaking from experience! In all likelihood it probably is a boost leak but the valve is the easiest thing to test, so sods law if you do a full charge circuit pressure test first then it'll turn out to have been a boost leak all along.
Also worth cleaning and resetting your throttle body, you'll need full VAGCOM or VCDS-lite to do the reset. There was a thread in
mk1 Leon section where someone cured that code with this just the last couple of days.
Having said all that though, if the pressure drop code and the too-rich code have shown up at (almost) the same time then it does sound like a boost leak. Clear the codes (if you can with the shareware VCDS), go for a blast then scan again.
Yeah I'm going to start with checking the valve over and making sure that's not sticking, and also do the push/finger test.
Shame I didn't see this before I went to my mates last night as he has full vagcom and could have done a TB reset. Oh well.. I'm going to show AmD these faults in 2 weeks if I can't find the
problem by then and see if they want to have a look. I think the light will come back on by then tbh..
My mate cleared the codes last night so the light is gone for now but as just said I think it'll come back and he said don't be surprised. We checked for obvious leaks with engine running but couldn't hear anything like air escaping out which sometimes you can hear when a vac pipe etc pops off.
I did go for a 25min blast, and I mean BLAST last night taking it onto a dual carriageway and back again over a few runs, seemed to pull really hard and didn't drop off mid to top end which is making me think this is going to be a swine to find..
Still, if after the 3" TIP goes on, it makes near 300bhp I'll forget it for the time being

. It's a weekend car now anyway so not ultra urgent..
LOL 8bit, i said "usually". Here anyone running a 1.8t should have one along with vagcom.Best mods ever

Also if and when you get vagcom you can check your long term fuel trims, this can point to leaks too.
Man I need one of these boost leak DIY testers! Very handy. Just watched the video attached to hotside upper boost hose. Good stuff. Think I'll have to go through this one weekend and make one up
