Update..

So as some of you know, I was out of work for a while since losing my job at the end of January when my previous employers decided to go Newcastle and not offer anyone in my entire office a role in the London offices.

Rubbish times, but I've been at my new job a few weeks now and am loving it. Also get my 1st pay for a while this Thursday (a bit excited) :funk:

The car has seen no updates for a while now and I'm bored of it and losing my passion for the project fast. And we can't have that if I'm to keep the car and finish it off!

Within the next 2 weeks the plan is:

-02 spacer from Awesome GTi (thanks RS6 aka James for the link) to sort my lambda fault code, which I believe is messing up my mpg and making the car run a bit rough.
-Polished manifold will be getting fitted [B)]
-Boost/oil temp gauges will hopefully be going in!
-Going to get the 'Knock Sensor 2' intermittent fault code investigated and fixed. I have no idea where the sensor is (I've not looked into it or had time to lately), but I have cleared the code twice now on vagcom but it's come back both times. AmD can sort this out soon for me.

Also, can anyone tell me why my rear windows go down using the rear switches in the doors but won't go back up? Quite embarrassing when I took the rents out in it at the weekend! I could put them back up using the controls on my driver's door but I found it odd the rears wouldn't go back up. The child lock security feature was off. Maybe vagcom has the answer....

Next payday will see the car going in for a complete bushing kit overhaul underneath which I believe will really transform the feel of the car and give me a good basis to work off handling wise with the coilovers. After that I can then look at ARBs and brake setup. Then later in the year if the money is all good, I will be going for a Wavetrac diff. I am keen on tracking the car in the future to be honest.

That's all for now... :)

Cheers lads!

I've not paid it enough attention lately, it was cleaned this weekend and hoovered but it had been over 3 weeks since the last wash! That's the longest I've ever left it (bar winter time when it's snowing and minus 10!).

Time to get back stuck in and make this car what it can be! I did think hard a few weeks ago about the idea of buying a MK2 Cupra, but they just aren't pretty enough. Plus I've put all the Stage 2 mods in and would have to do it all over again which I am NOT doing!

Hiya mate,my drivers side rear window does that. Have you noticed that it doesn't light up either? Unless you apply a bit of pressure on it. I was sure it was the switch, but SEAT want almost £60 for the little thing.

Have you changed the settings on vagcom or anything mate? It was my Dad who noticed so I've gotta get out there this weekend and play around with it. Do you have the 'cool remote windows feature' enabled? I do, but might take it off to see if they worked ok before I installed that a few weeks back.

Cheers for the info mate! I'm not paying £60 for a switch  Far better things to do with this car!

Thanks Tom!

Don't worry in all good time you will have the car there. It's taken me over a year to get it where it is now. Stage 2 come along rather suddenly if I'm honest, but looking back I'd rather have built the car back from chassis up, i.e bushes 1st checking all CV joints, gearbox, everything like that to optimise the handling once the power is there. Now I'm not getting it down as well as I'd like. But I'm no idiot and realize that the diff is going to be the biggest upgrade/change in that department.

I can't wait to get these updates done to the car, but it won't be happening all too quickly that's for sure.

Sorry to hear buddy :( I hope things work out for you in the job department. It sucks big time and you do worry that the pride and joy will be the 1st thing to go! Well I did the longer I was unemployed.

Thanks, the gauges should look great once in. They are stepper motion one's and nicely match the interior imo. I've got plenty to get done but it's money and time now.

I was meaning to ask you actually Maz... Did you get down to Forge for the TDi intercooler development?! How did you get on if you did go? I haven't been on here for a good while so may have not seen an update on your thread.

Have you got a diff fitted? I'm seriously thinking about it towards the end of the year. The car won't be ready for the track this summer I don't think (unless someone throws 10 grand at me to spend on the car and a few road trips!!) so next year is the plan I think. Aiming to get her on Brands' for some gentle track action spring time then maybe a Ring' trip...

Always the way though isn't it, get the power first becuase it's more exciting ;) Will be a cracking LCR when you've got the handling mods that's for sure mate (not that it isn't anyway), glad it's all working out for you again. Gonna have to call time on mine after this month, off travelling next summer and all my cash is going towards that. I'll have to enjoy it as it is.

no mate but after having a taste of 4wd I love the grip so when the Alfa was ready after its Konis I started looking into them. Drove a couple of other GTA's with the Q2 diff fitted and it was night and day!

So in the LCR I will be doing a diff once I can.... even over any other suspension mods.

Not always true, had it 4 years and still OE map
I decided to do brakes and handling first and will probably even stretch to rods before mapping, may even go straight to stage 3
Tom, battery movement for track time?

Ah travelling sounds smart though mate, where you heading on your travels? Take the car with you and go Germany (hint hint Ring' ;) )

You can enjoy yours as it is definitely mate, it flew when you took me for a spin and sounded great.

Thanks for the comments mate, appreciate it. But there is a long way to go still as you can see. It could be real good though the more I think about it. I seem to know exactly what I want compared to last year, when I was thinking, 'which exhaust? which map? which fmic? which coilovers? which filter??!' etc etc etc!

It's nice now being able to plan with the remaining work on the car and knowing that it will feel alot better on the road to drive once I get there. I'm more motivated to get the car wired to the road in a sense now than I was to get it to 280+bhp stage 2 level.

I really can't wait to get stuck in now! Just being back on here tonight and listing out my plans has given me the buzz back for it I must admit!!!

Nice :)
Everyone I have asked about diff's have said the same thing.. Night and day difference. I've yet to go out in a MK1 Leon of any sort with a diff fitted but I hear good things for sure. Must give you alot of confidence going into the twisties, but also I guess oversteer is increased above normal amounts if you let off, is that the case can someone confirm? I can't remember exactly what Maz told me when I asked him about his on his TDi at the RR day at AmD but it sounded epic!

I'm sure I'll look at my things to do on the car and it will be just ready and waiting to do with nothing else major to do on the car. I'm not going big turbo etc.

Tom, battery movement for track time?

OE map was quick for me at 242bhp with a jetex and milltek fitted! Pulled very well. But mapped a different car, OE will be a small dot in your rear view mirror, lol.

Ronin, straight to stage 3? You do things properly don't you! GT30? Think Dan (s1 pru) is going that way..

Poss battery movement buddy. If that happens it will be late in the year or early next before she gets close to 1st track outing at Brands. It's my local track I loyally go to each year so it has to be christened there 1st.

I'm off to get some sleep before my brain goes on overdrive about my plans for the car and I end up getting no sleep!

Cheers for the input all.. Plenty of food for thought.

I'm off round europe with 2 mates for 4 months, we're going to get a van in the next 2 months so need cashish! Then plenty of beer tickets.

I find I'm falling in and out of love with the car on a weekly basis, lol. Must be how you feel too. Sometimes you look at them and think 'spot on', then other times they look miles away from where you want them.

You've got a good plan of attack especially the diff, just don't think about how much the car owes you at the end of it ;) lol.

I am due to Forge on the 16th so fingers crossed that comes through. If it doesnt I have other options ;)

They are also going to develop turbo intake pipe also so not just intercooler.

Hi Tom,

I'm glad that you have seen the light and have a nice plan for the coming year. I'm with you at the moment what with the problems I've had with my car, I've just discovered three boost leaks to add onto the overboost problem. I really regret sticking all these mods on my car gradually rather than just saving up and doing it in one hit, then take for mapping. My ECU must be spazzing out big time, it can't control what is going on (all the extra power potential) with its current map. So, it's been a few weeks now that I haven't been able to drive it properly, she's become an' about town car' for the time being :(.

Still on the up side I have just secured myself a Forge Big Race Cooler kit, Forge turbo outlet pipe, Forge DV relocation kit, Forge TIP & Forge Split-R bundle for an amazing price which should all be here next week :). The hoses are all in red which upsets my stealth engine bay theme so expect to see all but the outlet pipe & cooler on ebay lol.
