Oh yes, time to call the welder again so i can put a 40mm port in the pipework now![]()
I've just bought TFSI coil packs and adaptors. Thanks for heads up!
Haha
Cheers mate, me too, really can't wait.
Where about's in Kent are you from?
I can only imagine its going to be good. Im in Maidstone, your Kent / London arent you? (Cant see as im on my phone)
Nice additions! I wish Awsome had that clutch out when mine was replaced. You're going to love the diff.
Nice gearbox that - I drove it a few times including round Knockhill when it was attached to his car. Still can't believe he has stripped it and sold all the bits.
I have a Wavetrac ne in my MK2 and can confirm it is ace. Just be careful when driving the car in the wet because steering becomes useless when you wheel spin, especially on a corner.
Yeah standard clutch and DMF. I nearly went for a Jabbasport SMF but as my cars a daily I didn't want a car that's a pain in traffic. This Awsome clutch came out a few weeks after it was fitted. I'm very jealous!
Yes be carful in the wet as when the wheels spin you have no steering, it's like being on ice. I was warned about it before I had mine fitted. The first opportunity I had in the wet I went out to see what was like and make it lose grip. I nearly ended up in a ditch lol.
Im still waiting for my package to turn up from awesome, glad to see your happy with the 008 cant wait for mine to get here now
I actually had the wavetrac and box in the old Leon - before Willie got his. I haven't any reason to complain about it at all. On the track, the car pulls nicely and cleanly out of corners and if there is wheelspin, you know you will have catapulted past the point you would have been past if you never had the diff![]()
Handle worse in the wet! Really? Never thought that would happen. Will stick to my stretched tyres
Tom any idea if my chav valve (split-R) will give me any problems with stage to, or am I gonna have to conform and get the 007/8 range![]()
Handling isn't worse in the wet with a diff.
Basically, on an open diff, wheelspin happens quicker as the wheel with less traction gets the power and ends up spinning uselessly. The wheel with traction helps to steer the car as the other spins.
With the Wavetrac, the wheel with the most traction gets the most drive which means it takes longer to spin as both wheels will break traction at close to the same time and when it does, it doesn't really matter where the front wheels are pointing if you keep the foot down as the car will go the direction momentum is taking it.
Basically you would need to use caution when pushing on in the wet and let off a bit to stop wheelspin if you want the steering to work![]()

Traction is better in the wet with a LSD. But when you lose tracking it's with both wheel as Al very well put it. So unless you gain traction again (back off) you have no steering like driving on ice.
First gear launches in the wet you get a bit of wheel spin, the grip and then you're off. None of that sat there spinning your wheels business.
Get rid of the split-R, I had one and the difference between that and the 007 is night and day, if you want noise fit a cone or mod your airbox, the increased boost will make the 007 or 008 sing![]()
