Thanks for the info mate :) Will be trying this with my one. Looks very subtle around the oil cap indeed.

I forgot say Tom that the rubber surround is turned upside down. No need to keep hush hush now then buddy... Look forward to the pictures!

Oh, I'm really happy with my TFSI coil packs; idle is smoother and I'm in the camp of having read that they are much more reliable units, but time will tell I guess :)

I'm happy with mine as well. In the great scheme of things there not that much more expensive. Plus it's only the adaptors that increase the cost. So after the initial out lay in the future they'll cost the same to replace the coilpacks them selfs.

Your bay looks really good!

New plugs should definitely improve things. I have always wanted the TFSI coilpacks since people started to retro fit them to 1.8T's. If you've only just got new coilpacks I wouldn't bother so soon mate. I have had my car over 3 years now and have no receipts of the coilpacks ever being done which means they could be 8 years old, lol.

Good news on the coilovers! Did you go for the AP's?

Yeah mate ended up goin for the ap's for the price I couldn't complain , I might just change the plugs for now then do the coils at a later date when I can afford it!

Bad news on the engine cover I'm afraid mate. The test fit in the dark the other night was mis-leading. I thought the holes lined up but they don't when you get the oil cap central. Will be calling Awesome on Monday :( Oh well. Win some and lose some. Other things went well today, check my update below all this in a bit..

Glad you're happy with the TFSI coils, I'll definitely be getting some soonish.

True true mate. As said above I will be making the upgrade to them come service time :)

I've had AP's for almost 3 years with no issues an no complaints. Been brilliant. AmD rated the for me to get when I spoke tohem. Least issues out of these Weitec's and KW's ask AmD for yourself what they say about them :)

Very mixed day with the car, very mixed.... :D:( lol... But hey ho, you win some you lose some.

Stuck my middle finger up at the constant rain and sh!t weather and shoved the car in the garage for some engine bay upgrades.

Started with the Forge silicone cam cover hose, nice 5 min job, 3 of those crappy oem clips prized off and new hose on with proper jubilee's.

Old out

Then attacked the Forge DV re-location which was an ok job, bit of cutting here and there but happy with the end result. Got quite a surprise :D

Now, I was dubious about how different the boost may feel with the DV re-located, but all I can say is what a difference. I must have either had a boost leak in my original cam cover hose, or a DV hose wasn't done right up tight or something, because it feels like I have gained 0.5 bar of boost or something!!! Feels outrageously quick . The wheels spin so early in 2nd the diff working very hard to keep it down. :-o So happy with the difference. Going to take it out tonight as I only took it round the block earlier.

Bad news is the ECS Carbon fibre engine cover is not lining up like sam bryant's one. When the oil cap is central the bottom to screw holes do not line up I'd say almost an inch off of being true to the holes. Shame really. I'm not gutting the middle around the oil cap so will be asking Awesome to send it back for a refund. Going to take the FORGE sticker off my engine cover and keep that one going instead sod it. Was worth a punt but I was aware they have had a few issues in the past. More gutting as I tried it at the other night but rushed it and didn't check how the oil cap surround was lining up. Never rush things!

Anyway, much happier with the boost and cannot wait to take it out tonight and see how much more there is on tap now :D

Do you still get the dumping sound through the filter with it relocated? Looked at this but didnt know or see what the advantages would be over standard?

I'll let you know on the noises after a good run out tonight :D

Air to the tubby will be cooler and denser but I'm struggling to believe it could make this much difference!? Would be keen to hear from other people who have had a fully setup stage 2 lcr and then changed the DV setup to this and seen what their findings were?

I need to have a good look at the oem cam cover hose that came off and see if there was a split in that or something, as it's a real jump in performance.

I noticed a huge difference in mine after I fitted a catch can. The boost was unreal after and like you said struggles for traction in 2nd and 3rd but I did have a boost leak on the pcv system. Yeah it would be interesting to hear of other people's experiences with it.

From hot side to cold side. Even on an OEM map with FMIC etc I noticed a difference. Definitely worth it IMO. Sorry to hear about the ECS cover Tom. You could have the battery and engine covers professionally painted (2k paint) to freshen it up a bit. I liked mine in matt black with lacquer finish. £130 of pennies to go on something else now... :)

Good stuff mate :)

I don't have a catch can, but have replaced the breather hoses under the manifold with the Forge one's just to future proof it.

Good to hear mate. I didn't expect such a difference, but my feeling is something wasn't right before I started yesterday. Boost is in earlier and much harder now.

That's ok, it was worth a go on the ECS cover. Would have looked good but I'm much happier with the fact it's going like a rocket than not having the cover work out anyway. I will leave the paint on the oem one. The standard one comes up great for a good wash and left to soak in autogylm vinyl & rubber care so I'll be doing that before shows. It's oem after all :)

Maybe I'll use the money to get my rear discs and pads sorted now.

So the short drive after the work on the bay yesterday wasn't a fluke with how the car went as I took the car out last night for a country pub run over towards Chelsfield not far from me then right over to Westerham and back through Sevenoaks on some big open country roads with no traffic, the car went like an absolute bullet train, so much torque pinning me in the seat. It tried to pull all over the road but the diff was earning it's £££ in the wet last night. Awesome drive and makes it all worth it!!!

Very very happy :D

Cheers mate :) I agree, it certainly does keep the love going.

Nice one, hopefully you'll see a difference too. Take it you have gone for the Forge Supersize?

Interesting developments Tom, car is sounding epic. You'll have to give me a passenger ride at AmD RR say.
I'm planning on replace a few hose this year. Might look into the DV relocation as well, been looking at catch cans too. :)

Cheers mate :) Sure is feeling it now. Will take you out at the RR day no worries.

I've found the relocation well worth doing. You can DIY a kit up but the upper intercooler hose that comes with the Forge has the spout already nicely moulded in where as you'd have to modify your current one, something I didn't want to do. The rest of the Forge kit is good they give you vac tubing for the DV, a t piece joiner and loads of cable ties as well as all the main piping and jubilee clips.

:)

What other pipework do you have at the moment? I would say it's well worth doing now :)
