When I tried to get a mk2 R from SEAT the parts monkey looked at me as though I was stupid and then replied "I've found a FR badge" I just walked away and order one off the bay!

They told ms they only do the red R and black/silver cupra.

I told him the red cupra was for the 225 and he checked on the system via my vin only to tell me... "only one badge comes up mate it's a red R"

I then bought them from the bay.

ah i may have to pay the ebay prices then, why are parts munkys so stupid at the dealers??
when i got my first LCR splitter for the old LC it took about 25 mins of "its not listed as a part for your car so it may not fit" then a lad who knew the car came out from round the back and went and got me one.
i had the same issue with pug when i was getting the 207 airel, im sorry you dont have a pug so im not selling it to you... OMG, out came ebay on the phone in the shop, bang out came 2 fingers lol

last night saw the begining of the "prep work" i started to get rid of the worst laquer peal, a few bits on the roof, rear door, A post and just above the rear light, its looking patchy as hec has some of it had to go back to the undercoat but its all good
today i sorted my special box of bits, made sure all was there and made a list of things i still need
this is the main thing i spose
010.jpg

i know it wont be the same yellow as it looks in the tin, i was told it is close to the MG glossy yellow, with it going on to a yellow base coat too i think it will be more or les the same as the " in ya face" yellow by MG, i like that though and it was about £80 cheaper than getting a match on the paint, im more than happy!!
im in hope that we will have the spraying done mid to end of next month, it will take time as the car needs to be used daily and the prep can only be done after work or the odd weekend.

also today i completed the DIY short shift mod

also 2 weeks ago i did my spacers, i bought a set of 15mm from ebay along with a set of 50mm bolts, it was used stuff but it didnt bother me
when it came to bolting the wheels back on i found that 50mm is too long so set about cutting 5mm off them, all done and on now, i actually went 20mm on the rear and 15 on the front
here is some pics of an oem hub, 5mm spacer and 15mm spacer also oem bolt and a 50mm bolt

im also looking at a set of coilovers, just doing my sums as i had around £650 to play with for the respray, iv spent £162 on the paint and my bro in law is doing the spraying cheap for me, iv prob spent around £20 on some odd bits, paint mesuring cups, sandpaper, tapes, water stopper valve etc. i just might treat my self to a set OR at least a set of springs

Looks busy mate! Colour looks like it's going to be nice and lairy.

Any pics of the wheels on with the spacers?

Coilovers are obv amazing but I know I would never mess with the settings once set once so if I ever change will be for Koni sports - had them on my GTA and they were excellent.

hard few days this weekend, started the front wishbone rear bushes on friday, broke one of the studs on thedrivers side ball joint and coundt bet the bush in =3 tins of larger and 4.5 hours in the stupid heat and sun (beer and sun had played a big part in the time taken due to having a student friend helping :drunk:...), stopped there and didnt bother with the other side as i ran out of time.
started again today 7:30 AM the car was on stands, stripped the pas side off changed the bush, put it back together, stripped the balljoint off the drivers side bashed the turd out of the broken stud, replaced it with a new bolt and chuced it back together spent 1 hour chattin to my step dad and bro in law, helped them pintch 20 bricks lol - i was done by 11:30

well today was a WET start a see the day that Mr Sambryant came to oxford, he also bought the sun along with him!!!
i was ment to be pulling the mid section of the milltek off this morning but due to a slight down poor i decided to take it to the garage and "borrow" the ramp for a few hours
so today i have fitted the non silenced mid section that used to be on Sam's monster, it does have a slightly deeper note and i get a few little crackles off the gas, all in all - i like it!!
also Sam managed to work some witch craft on the PCV system and removed a boost leak along with half a tone of pipes and sam had a pressie from my car, yep my car decided to give sam a really nice burn on his fingers... oops the best bit was when sam sam said "christ look, thats hot, its smoking" followed by AGHGHGHGhh thats hot
he also pointed out that i deffo have fooked injector seals (i expected this and have sam - Pyro collecting a set from badger 5 tomora)
AND he also found the main reason i have lost most of my boost, i couldnt beleave i didnt see it but my car had created its own N75 bypass lol and asif by magic Mr sam had a pipe with him to replace it BUT it wasnt all JOY, "WE" managed to snap the dipstick tube... 3 times.... oh the joys lol

a big thank you to bristol Sam for today, i hope the section went on yours ok and sounds ok, i hope ya fingers are ok too.
also a thank you to swindon sam in advance for the picking up the seals

it was a good day, well once you got here with the sun lol
having power back is superb but... my mrs had the car for the day, i set the PMG to see how she been driving over the day, 18.7mpg LOL, when i mentioned it she said, "well all the sunday drivers are out and i had to get parst them didnt i"
Sam, i did tell you to put it under cold water mate lol
pcv was pish easy job, just have a new dipstick tube with ya! a little wiggle here and a push me pull you ther and bang the tube will snap and the pcv will be free lol
Tyrer, if you pop down to Sam in bristol one day, i will pop over, will get Pyro over and any one else, we can all have a Leon day, im all booked up for a few weeks but after the paint and my week away im free...

a little update - today i cleared the garage out at my dads ready to be turnt in to a heated booth, i wish i took some pics of the crap that was in there,
also a friend of mine popped down to see how things had been going only to take me to his dads house and give me 5L of tire shine and cleaner, 3 diffrent bottles of "finishing" polishes for after the paint, a mechanical polisher and a tub of yellow, black and white lugs for fixing number plates.
iv ordered a new dipstick tube for a whapping £3.50 and Sam (pryo) has gotten me a set of injector seals from Bill @ Badger5, so all in all a RUDDY GOOD WEEKEND!!!

next weekend i will be back at the garage fixing a few cracks in the roof, sheeting the walls and roof and might even tint my rear windows

SO.... today was the day
a few days of prepping, a few hours of masking and more prepping and its done...more or less
we didnt want any masking lines on the rubbers, at the same time we didnt want to remove the windows so with some pulls, tuggs and a few noughty words all the rubber trims had been removed, the little quater glass was removed, the rear "S" badge came out and i also astablished that my rear water jet is naffed and wont work so im removing it tomora...
a big thank you to mike (my sis partner) for all his help and doing the hard bit today
will be finishing, mopping and putting it back together tomora afternoon as the paint says 8 hours to dry hard so going tp leave it about 14 hours
a few pics of the days work,
friday night it looked like this

today started off like this

htcrespray067.jpg

htcrespray069.jpg

mike working the light holes
htcrespray075.jpg

htcrespray079.jpg

we masked the sides of the car so the roof and bonnet could be painted first, we also did the front bumper as we needed to roll the car back from the divider wall in the garage
htcrespray081.jpg

time i left mike to it and shut him away in my little box

after a while had passed, and me checking that mike was still alive in there i got called to open the door
the roof, bonnet and bumper had been done
there was a little problem whilst he was in there, his air line decided not to self seal and blow apart at the connector to the gun but it will be sorted tomorrow, i prob didnt need to mention it but wanted too
htcrespray089.jpg

htcrespray090.jpg

after a drink food and some air we put some sheeting over the painted parts and masked them up then he locked him self away again to do the sides and the rear
htcrespray098.jpg

i only got 1 pic as it was getting dark
more to come though as it all goes back together tomorrow
