PD engines were never intended for anything but a car which is why they drink it with the weight of a van. My T4 1.9tdi (AHU Engine from mk3 golf) conversion will do 40+mpg and its got close to 200k on the clock. I would have a word with Pendle Performance and see if they can do anything about the MPG.

Has it really been that long? This is what she looks like now:

My brother has a 1993 8 seater Caravelle 2.5 petrol 5 cylinder. Not a spot of rust on it. It had starting and running problems. He took it to an independent garage and they said they wanted £500 to fix all the problems. I had a quick look one weekend. Got a proper sized battery from a scrap yard for £15. Got a set of spark plugs, oil, filters from Euro car parts for £50. It now starts and runs like a dream.

My brother reckons it's worth £3k. Is that about right?

Another year. Van going strong, we love it. Needs a good mop over, and a few chips sorted. Main thing was getting the bottle do these:
