Hi,

I have just fitted the coilovers to the front of the car and I have to say, they are very squeaky. I am not to sure if that is because they need to settle in or because there is something I have missed?

The sqeak seems to be comming from somewhere in the strut because when you push the car down from the front you can hear it. The cone did puzzle me that came with the setup but you need the cone as the springs are too small to fit on the bearing itself, so the spring sits on the cone which sits on the bearing, and this sits within the strut itself.

Is it sqeaking because something is too tight?

Mine are getting fitted as we speak ! There 2month old but look new I report later if they squeak or not. How low have you gone ? And mine had that little cone thing for the spring but they came already altogeater for me

Cheap coilovers will creak it seems, people spend forever trying to sort it and not very often is the problem solved.
Mine are terrible I've also got TA's but you learn to live with it!

They shouldn't be sqeaking as bad as mine are however. It is constantly sqeaking when driving at low speeds. Mine is not at the lowest setting, its about 75% down at the front and 70% at the back.

The cone that comes with the setup needs to come off in order to fit the strut mount and bearing to go on top before assembling it in the car (which is another task!)

I might put loads of grease on the cone and the strut bearing to see if this smoothens the movement. I also might grease up the spring where it touches the cone.

I've only had the coilovers on since Saturday however so i may need to give it some time to bed in

I've got TAs, they constantly knock when i turn at low speeds, one day i feel my car will just drop and smash its nose into the concrete

Greased mine up and they still sqeak like a mouse getting raped. Other people with the same springs say that the wrong springs where sent out with the kit and i need different springs for the front suspension :(.

Anyone confirm this?

I believe the spring problem ws first with mk3 ibizas then people were usingthe replacement spring on mk4's
But they still sell them with the same springs so its obviously not that much of. Problem!
Rather than wasting money trying to stop the squeak i would just get used to it or buy better coilovers!

They are brand new and it looks like the EVO1030 springs are needed on the front (which seem to come with the mk3 kit) because the EVO1030 springs are wider and sit on the bearings (which is how proper kits should be setup) instead of having to use the crappy metal cone which seems to be causing the sqeak noises.

Yea i hink you still get some amount of noise epven with the new springs.
Report baickmif you do it though!

Mine are right down and dnt squeek any more. Did for the first week but settled down. There all the way down and much better than my mates joms

Ive always heard joms are better mine are all the way down, no helpers adjusters and cut bumpstops, and as you can imagine they are terrible lol

Not sure but for 95 quid 1month old and with new top mounts I can't complain haha. My mates jom inside the CST is terrible. No give whatsoever were mine does

I got mine for £30 :p haha they were siezed but we sorted that out, been going strong for just over 2 years now!

bargainlol. are these the same as the raceland ones where you dont need shorter droplinks for them?
i fancied some raceland ones but cant find them anywhere now, just wondered if it was these rebranded maybe.
