Tailgate auto opening, Anyone done it

Have seen this on Leon2passion but not sure on what parts are needed

My car opens the tailgate with a long press of the tailgate button but wont flip it up

think u need to mod the pistons or something , mine do's not do that to .

One of the videos tell you the part number you need...

You need the gas struts off another VAG car by the looks of it that are sprung more so when you press the button to release the boot, the struts fully stretch themselves from the closed position and it opens

Looks like it would be a 5 minute job to swap them tbh

Yeah, the struts are from (i assume) the Octavia estate, which assuming has a heavier boot so therefore will open up the Leon boot nicely, I'm gonna ring my local skoda dealership tomorrow and see how much they are and let you know how it goes

had to do the opposite a while ago on a golf mk5 that had a carbon tailgate fitted but bothe ways can be done on any model really

just measure up the open and closed lengths and look for the listed pressure and right fittings and see a decent local factors for the possible alternatives but worth a note that QH through Lip/Gastec offer a decent catalogue and choice

these guys offer the online catalogues but not the one you need on site but drop em an amil and they usually send a copy on to ya in post http://www9.qha.com/uk/default.htm

also the later vectra C uses a linear driven ram that can open and close at the touch of a button if you want the mutt's nut's

I have noticed that the gas struts on my Leon feel very weak. After getting used to a new shape Astra tailgate I went into the boot of the Leon and when I closed the tailgate I almost broke the glass. Saying that the struts do hold the tailgate up Ok, I guess the tailgate is just light and doesn't need strong struts to ballance it.

you can get tailored struts from struts direct for the same price...

I actually plan a journey to scrapies to have a look around.

anyone know which is the module and byte the getting the boot to open from the key? ive tried using the module 46, byte 3, option 3 which was said in another thred, but it doesnt even have any options in it? my cars a 57 leon cupra and im using the 804 version of VCDS.
