Mine failed last weekend and although there was some useful information online I thought I would make it easier for the next person.
Replacement catch/lock from EBay £16.99 : Seat Leon 1P1 Altea 5P1 Tailgate Boot Lock Latch Catch Mechanism Actuator UK https://ebay.us/VnoKP6

Triple Square 12 point spline bit set from EBay £8.75 : SPLINE BIT SOCKET SET by US PRO TOOLS Triple Square 12 Point M5 M6 M8 M10 M12 https://ebay.us/Ou57wx
M8 is the size required.

This video I found after I had worked out the above is most useful.
Two Torx 20 screws hold the plastic trim in place, remove these then carefully pull of the panel, it has approx 8 spring clips that release when you pull carefully. Release the electrical plug using a small screwdriver.
Unbolt the two M8 triple square bolts and the catch comes free, the only slight issue with the replacement catch I sourced above was that there were two plastic shrouds in the way of a correct fit, I simply snapped these off, possibly they are designed to do this for fitting a wide variety of cars. I did up the two triple square bolts and plugged in the electrical connector and to my surprise the tailgate closed and locked/unlocked completely without incident.

Thanks, I searched these forums first but only found misleading and wrong information (like the catch being held in by Torx bolts), don't know how I missed what you have linked to. Mine seems pretty superfluous now.
