Hi All,

Just had a cal from my local dealer that they've just aquired an '07 Mk2 Leon Ref Sport TDI with the fully body-kit and 18" wheels (mmmmmmm).

I've got a TDI Leon Cupra at the mo.

Now I've had a quick drive of a Sport 140hp before and to be honest it felt no slower that the Cupra. Handling wise it felt slightly more planted (probs because of lower centre of gravity) and the seats were figure-hugging great.

He's offered me a reasonable part ex as well.

Now the question is what did these limited edition Ref Sports come with as standard ??

Does it have cruise ?
Dont think it had dual climate, but trust it does have climate ?
Any other bonuses, or things it hasnt got that I'll miss ? (like foldy mirrors)

Finally, how much did these sell for new ? Its up for 14.5K with about 7k miles.

Now talk me out of it............. but if I was going for a MK2 it would have to be fully body-kitted and in silver -- just like this one.

Cheers

MARK

If I remember correctly, SEAT did a offer on the Ref Sport which added the full bodykit for free (usually 2500 quid). £14500 seems high considering you can get an FR, albeit without kit for around 15500 new. The FR has dual climate and cruise as standard which I'm sure the ref sport doesn't. It's also more potent being 170bhp. I do think the Areo kit looks good, so it depends on whether the looks outweigh extras/performance.

During the summer sizzlers offer, the list price was £16995. (Metallic 350 extra).

They don't have full climate control (just aircon) and the rear windows aren't electric. Apart from that, equipment is the same more or less.

Don,t do it I had a cupra just like yours and i also had a test drive in the Ref Sport I agree the handling is a lot better and the power was not that much different. But trust me save your money like i did and get yourself a FR you will be much happier with it(sorry you guys with REF sports)I think you will kick yourself if you don,t

Its a fair comment - I bought my ref sport because I was trying to cut costs (low insurance, but still looks spot on with the btcc kit, and "similar" performance).
You have to get the car to suit your needs...

Well I've got a Ref Sport, spent £500 on a remap and got myself 200BHP so I would't worry too much about lack of power. It's whether you like the bodykit or prefer the more subtle FR. I was never a big fan of the bodykit so would go with an FR or wait another year, save up and get a second hand Cupra!

Ta for thoughts.

Had a drive of the Ref Sport today and was soooo nice. It also looked feckin ace.
They repeated their fair offer for my Cupra but as correctly stated above the level of features is so low for a modern moderately priced car. No leccy rear windows, no folding mirrors, no cruise, no climate.
Repeat its a lovely car and I did go home and give it some serious thought but hey -- something more suited to me will come up - and I can wait.
Took a few pics - and the one with both our cars in shows how dated my Leon now looks -- remind me not to park next to one again -- as my car looks great by itself lol

Aww, I really loved it know
