I recently collected my Leon FR ST TDI 184 with the DSG gearbox and i must say that i LOVE this car!
Excellent torque and economy.
Howevere as you know you always want more :)
I've just started to look at different remaps and i'm planning to get it remapped when spring/summer arrives.
But what is the maximum torque the DSG6 can handle?

might be worth look at DTUK box, plug in and go, Andrew who owns DTUK is very knowledgable I'm sure he will have graphs confirming differences in power gains etc

If that's the wet dsg then don't worry about it. If it's the dry one then yes, you may need to worry

And how am i supposed to know if its the wet or dry version?
The car was built early 2014.

I did find some information saying that the 6-speed DSG has a torque limiter to 450nm and that exceeding it could damaged and possibly destroy the gearbox..
So i guess DTUk is a no go since i have the DSG.
I also found this thread regarding the DTUK box for the diesels.

like all things in life, wikipedia.

List of DSG variants[edit]
name speeds max. torque (N·m) type
DQ200 7 280 dry
DQ250 6 350 wet
DQ380[20] 7 380 wet
DQ500 7 550 wet
DQ511 10 550 wet
DL501 7 550 wet

bearing in mind however the Golf R uses the 6 speed wet, and its rated at 380nm already... plus im sure there are many examples of stage 3 monsters using the standard dsg box, so like i say, if its wet dont worry about it.

That list also states that the maximum torque for my gearbox is 350nm.
My car is running 380 stock...
So I don't think that's a valid list..

The new Golf R stage 1 map makes (APR so pinch of salt) 386 lb/ft, I know cars on that map using the dsg6 that are running fine. How much torque you planning on going for?

Oh well that seems to be equal to about 520nm.
The stage 1 I'm looking at usually seems to deliver something in the range of 450-480nm or 354lb/ft.
So that is what I'm hoping the gearbox can cope with.

the list is correct, theyre just pushing the box further than they originally stated, it can do much more than they initially state. http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Category:Transmissions

You are wrong here.
The upgraded DQ250 6 speed DSG fitted in the Cupra, Golf 7R and Audi S3 is the latest spec of this box with max torque limit of 450 Nm.
This means also when the torque exceeds 450 Nm the engine torque will be limited by the software.
Tuners like APR can put it up to 500Nm by raising the hydraulic oil pressure for the clutches and change the software setting the allowed torque limit higher.
All websites and Wiki's are still not updated with the new version info for this upgraded version.
Also the 184Hp TDI with DSG uses this spec version.

Ah great, thanks for the update!

Ive sent a e-mail to DTUK, but no reply..
I guess im going of looking at different remaps/boxes now then :/

This important for all owners of a Cupra or 184 TDI with plans for chiptuning.
But APR and all well known tuners are aware of that and normally they can set the limit about 10% higher with special software to about 500Nm.
When you want to go higher then it needs special replacement clutches that can bring it up to 600NM, but it is costly about 1950 pounds all in.
