TDi Engine Warming

Just a quick one really.

Me and a mate swapped cars yesterday (there was a purpose behind the madness), he had the fabia vrs, completely standard while i have the Ibiza tdi FR with a map. i drove his car home from work steady as it was cold but it warmed up very quick compared to my ibiza. he also commented on how long mine took to warm up when he drove it.

another difference is that mine is the BLT engine and his is the older style.

is there any reason why there is a difference?

Because TDI's take longer to warm up than petrols......

Have you fiddled with the Intercooler or EGR on the Ibiza mate? Turning the EGR down will cause it to heat up slower. I guess same with a Front mount to a lesser extent.

both the egr's have been changed to the min, ive done both the fabia and the ibiza.

still the SMIC at the moment, not enough pennies for a FMIC
