Diesels dont get tested for emissions

Hence we can have straight through exhausts

iirc the tester only revs it to around 3000rpm gently to check for excessive smoke etc. Revo would have little effect as its not under any load

They do a smoke test by sticking a prob up the tailpipe and redline the engine for a 'brief' moment and measure the crap that comes out.

The MOT test station isnt liable for the engine going Kaput under this test either

they had that test over here for a while stu and cancelled it because too many complaints (and engines going bang while still under dealer/manu warranty)
