If its the usual fault getting the joints resoldered would be a cheaper option.people have said the dials are £350 + to buy that's without coding and fitting!

I'm still trying to find out if fr 4 dials can be fit to our pd130 sports. No one seems to be able to confirm it

I'm gonna buy a second hand 4 dial . See if my local seat dealer can code it in...

dont bother m8 they will say its impossible even if its not  ,i suggest asking them first before you buy.

remember the 6 dial ones according to them cant be fixed neither can the door microswitch etc etc.

Well the fr models are no different engine wise etc so can't see why it's impossible. This 6 dial dash problem Is a joke, everything on mine is ok bar the fuel gauge dropping in quarters ha

i never said it was impossible im just saying they might say that even if it is.

mines the same but the only thing what failed on mine was the immobiliser which i had bypassed 3 years ago, everything else has been fine since, would have soldered it at the time but nobody knew that was the problem back then.

I agree, it probably doable. Does anyone know if the connectors on the back are the same for starters? A Vag k+can commander cable and software may be helpful too

I'll see if I can get a dash cheap

always a few 4 dial ones on ebay.

let us know how you get on,if mine fails i will do that myself if it works.

guess you can plug it in and see if everything works apart from the immobiliser before you bother with the dealer.

Will the immobiliser be the problem or will the car need coding in for the dash to actually work?

It will need coding in, unless you clone the immobiliser chip on the PCB. Not sure of the layout, but it's probably an 8 pin chip. You could either remove the chip and read it in a programmer, on possibly read it out with vag k+can commander or something like that and copy all the data into the new chip. A bit more investigation would be needed to be certain.

Ill give my dealer a ring and see what they think can be done.... Seen a few dashs on ebay going for 90 quid. Not too bad considering it will rid a faulty dash thats doing my head in

I think the immobiliser chip will be a 24C02, SO8 package, can anyone confirm this? Should be in the ECU. **edit** specifically I'm referring to the 1.9 TDI. Think the other ECU's are different, well different chips.
