Hi All

I have had a short to ground error showing on vag com for a couple of months and now my temp gauge doesnt move at all. The fan comes on however the needle doesnt move. Getting concerned as summer is approaching. vag com log:

Sounds like you have a few wiring issues.

Sometimes short to ground can mean that just the effected sensor or valve needs replacing but as you have so many components with the same issue, I would be inclined to check the circuitry.

I don't suppose you have got the engine bay wet lately have you?

I would be inclined to check the condition of the plugs and connectors and clean the terminals. Perhaps a bit of WD40 for good measure.

Then check the condition of all the relevant wires, make sure there are no nicks or breaks in the sleeving.

It just seems like there are a lot of components with the same issue. This would tell me that there is one main source, shorting to earth and its effecting all of these components??

which terminals are you refering too? I have changed the fuel pump relay too

You will need to have a look at a wiring diagram to see how all these valves and sensors are linked.

The fact that so many parts are short to ground and its not wet, shows that there is a common connection, fuse, relay or switch that is short.

Once you have found the common connection, clean the terminals, replace any relays or switches and see if that helps.

how do i get hold of a wiring diagram mate? done some research and the common relay is the fuel relay that i have changed.
