i drove about 150miles to Wales over the weekend, and when I was about to set back, my temperature sensor light came flashing. (It was in the morning, so engine was cold.) I restarted the car and it came on again! The temperature reading was zero! So I restarted the car the 3rd time and started driving off. After about 10 mins of driving, the temperature gradually went to 90 degrees and it was fine.

It happened to me this morning again! So, could anyone tell me whats going on?

Sounds like a faulty coolant level sensor - I had this a while ago. Check the coolant level first, but I think its a common problem.
10 mins sounds slightly longer than usual to warm up but maybe on a stone cold engine its not unusual...

Thanks mate! I'll top up the coolant, and see if the light flashes again tomorrow morning.

Exactly the same problem here, every single morning my light comes off, I am not sure if I am supposed to drive with it on? I tend to start off then stop at the end of the estate and restart engine and it goes out.

Coolant level looks fine although my drive is on a slope, outside temperature has not got lower than about 7degrees, but its every single flipping day it comes on!

Due its 30,000 mile service now so will get them to take a look

your fine, do a search for 3 beeps - i had this and after reading cleaned the two prongs with flat head screwdriver, topped up coolant by about 250ml and not had it since

coolant must be G12, got mine from stearlership

i had this problem took it to seat they replaced the coolent bottle and sensor and all is fine it was under warrenty so no cost to me.

if your under warrenty then take it to the Dealers to get a new one fitted

I had this today, left the car outside in the -11 temps last night.and the light kept flashing until I restarted a few minutes later. I normally keep the car garaged so hasn't happened before.

It has done it before when I have left the car on ignition for more than about 30seconds....?

What are these prongs that need cleaning??

the prongs inside the coolant header tank become gunked up with sediment from the coolant thus preventing a connection - scrape them with a screwdriver of a pair of long nose pliers to sort out the problem.
