The brochure shows a difference between the V1 and V2 from “Lane Assist” to “Assisted Lane Assist”. However, I can’t for the life of me get to the bottom of what the latter adds (and it’s not in the manual). Some YouTube videos seem to suggest it’s the ability to have the car change lanes for you when indicating but mine doesn’t and advice of Facebook forums is varied to say the least.

The difference between these two variants of lane assist is that the former does not keep the car at the center of the lane, intervenes *only* when the car veers from the center & gets too close to the lane markers either side; but the latter tries to keep you at the center of the lane at all times.

That’s the standard Lane Assist. I’m asking about Assisted Lane Assist.

There's a big information pollution around these assistance systems, mainly created by the manufacturers themselves.
They don't always intuitively name these features and frequently change the names from a generation to next.

Just an example: Some cars come with radars in rear bumpers at both sides (to keep track of any vehicle approaching from either side at the back), along with warning lights in exterior mirrors (some on mirror glass, some on the exterior cover of the mirror) or inside the car (through ambient lighting). This feature had/has three different names through its history: Blind Spot Monitoring, Side Assist and even "Lane Change Assist" in some documents. They are exactly the same system but those names obviously create confusion for consumers and salespersons, who mostly don't care about being the most knowledgeable person about the subject, and releasing brochures, price lists and technical documents that don't have clear feature explanations or do have all types of incorrect information does not help either. My observation through the years is that SEAT/CUPRA is particularly weak on this subject. I can give you a very recent example of this: The pricing list for Terramar has an explanation of "progressive steering" feature as "speed-sensitive steering", where these two are actually two separate features independent of each other. The car might also have speed sensitive steering but progressive steering is something entirely different.

The feature you're asking about is the "autonomous" lane change assistance, where you indicate and car initiates a lane change. This works using both the driver assistance camera at the windscreen (which is usually responsible for classic lane assist, traffic sign recognition and high-beam assist) and also radars at the rear bumper (which is usually responsible for blind spot monitoring). As far as I can see in the the latest sales documents and user manuals, there is no explicit entry for this feature in any trim level, though there are videos and forum posts suggesting it as you said. Using its VIN, your car's build info can be checked (I can help with that) to see what it has regarding driver assistance systems, but even that might not give a definitive answer because some of the feature descriptions are not clear there either. Of course one who knows the related PR code by heart can say if it's there or not.

An additional information: Even if your car didn't have that feature activated at the factory, it might already be there in the firmware, waiting to be activated by a retrofitter, assuming they have the ability to bypass SFD2 protection that exists in cars of recent model years.

Thanks very much for your detailed response. Yes a Google search returns the AI answer that it has Autonomous Driving including assisted lane change but cant specifically find it in Cupra information however I’m pretty sure I spoke about it with the dealer on the test drive.

I’d be grateful if you could point me in the direction of how I can check the VIN as a next step and then I might consider contacting someone that might be able to look into activating the ability if at all possible.

Send your car's VIN to me via PM, I'll look it up and share what the build info shows regarding driver assistance systems.

Here are the driving assistance features from the build info of your car:

Swerve support/oncoming vehicle braking when turning: 4G3 - With emergency steering support with turn assist
Lane keeping system/traffic jam assist : 6I6 - Lane Keeping System Plus with semi-automatic vehicle control in a medical emergency, Traffic Jam Assist
Lane change system/lane keeping system : 79H - Rear Traffic Alert, Lane Change System, Exit Warning System
Park distance control : 8A2 - Intelligent Park Assist IPA
Light assist systems : 8G1 - High Beam Assistant
Stopping distance reduction system : 8J3 - Forward Collision Warning with warning and braking reaction to vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists
Cruise control system : 8T3 - Adaptive Cruise Control
Driver alert system : EM3 - Driver Alert System with driver monitoring
Park assistance systems : FT4 - Parking Route Memory
Front cross traffic assist : JX1 - Front Cross Traffic Assist
Speed limiter/predictive speed limiter : LT2 - Predictive Speed Limiter
Compass/road sign display : QR9 - Traffic Sign Recognition

And these are the part numbers of related driving assistance hardware in your car.
The firmware versions in them might be important if any retrofitting work is attempted.

3WA907541J (2 front radars at left & right)
3WA907541J (2 rear radars at left & right)
3WA907217C (driver assistance camera)

As I said before, the build info is not always very descriptive, for example "Lane Change System" in third line might be just another name for the Blind Spot Monitoring/Side Assist feature. But for the experienced ones, the PR codes 79H along with 6I6 should mean whether it has the autonomous lane change or not. I for one don't have that exact info.

Maybe @East Yorkshire Retrofits could provide further help with this one and offer their retrofitting services, if it's possible at all.

I did contact East Yorkshire Retrofits and their advice was is that it seems to have the technology but to retrofit it would be restrictive and expensive.

I remain confused. Found this document on the Cupra site which again confirms assisted lane change and semi autonomous driving.

I remember that this had recently come up in another thread and it was mentioned that the feature in question is a part of the Travel Assist (which is mainly the adaptive cruise control with stop & go and lane centering) and it can be turned on or off by a software switch in the infotainment screen under the Driver Assistance -> Travel Assist menu, if my memory serves me right. Now, if this is correct, first of all your car has to have Travel Assist in its driver assistance package, of which there are lesser variants without it, and then it should be turned on in that menu of course. I'm pretty sure you have already looked at all the menus and you would have seen it if it was there. But if your car doesn't have the Travel Assist to start with, then it won't have assisted lane change feature either, again if I'm not wrong (The possibility of retrofitting/activating it is entirely another matter).

Cheers for the reply.

I do have travel assist in that it appears in the dashboard as selectable in the menu when you press the assist button on the steering wheel. It then keeps in lane automatically, uses ACC plus matches the speed limit. However the menus on the infotainment don’t have a Travel assist option to view or amend.

There might be a second page there, shown by two dots below. You can scroll between the pages left or right for more choices. Did you notice that and check that?

I did scroll across to the second page but no Travel Assist box unfortunately

In the video below, you can see the menu I mentioned at 04:55. In Travel Assist menu, there's an "assistierte spurwechsel" option, which means assisted lane change. The only explanation I can think of is that the feature wasn't available on the build date of your car and only introduced later.
